Help for detail parts needed.

Never mind that a Hall Class loco wouldn’t be pulling a circus train in NA, but wife has decided that this engine is the one to take point for her circus train. However like English practice it doesn’t have a headlight.

I have scoured the interweb for european detail parts but haven’t found anything. Any clue on where I could find the lamps needed to add to the front of the engine?

Maybe we could all help you better if we knew what scale and what type of headlight you desire to install on the English loco.

Not being a student of English or European trains, I have no idea what a Hall class loco is, but if you need a headlight for an HO steam loco, try Cal Scale.

If I were you I would join the RMWeb forum, which is a British based forum. Ask the question there and you will get specific info.

Several British locomotives have operated in North America. 6100 “Royal Scot” (a 4-6-0) visited in 1939 I believe, (as part of the New York World’s Fair?). 4472, “Flying Scotsman” (4-6-2) toured in the early 1970s for a couple of years before financial problems parked her. Some years later she was repatriated to Britain. The third that I am aware of was 926 “Repton” (4-4-0) that ran for several years on a tourist operation in Nova Scotia. That one had been brought over by Nelson Blount for display at Steamtown, but also has now been repatriated. I have pictures of her, but not on the web so I can’t link at this time.

Typically they received North American appliances, such as headlight, pilot, and bell, and possibly an air compressor since British practice in the steam era was mostly vacuum brakes. North American detail parts are what you will need. A knuckle coupler was likely also added, although maybe not for the 1939 occasion.

I suspect if you hunt around the web you might be able to find a picture of the Flying Scotsman when she was on the North American tour.
