Check this hotel out…I should work in this place.[C=:-)] My question would be to the railfan. Would you stay at this hotel?

If I was in the area definately! In Chattanooga, Tennesee you can stay in restored passenger cars alongside the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel, link: http://www.choochoo.com/

Yep,

I will if I ever get to Minnesota…

…Passenger cars were used as hotel rooms in downtown Indy when Union Station was renovated some years ago. Holiday Inn. Don’t know if they are still in place and used or not. But they sure were.

Gee…from the outside they look like prison cells. For a motel, but for a boxcar they look pretty good. I guess you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, huh? I can’t believe how nice they look on the inside…just like any hotel. I guess those boxcars need some good coats of paint. I’d stay there if I was in the area for sure. Looks like a neat place.

We have styed there! It’s not as neat an idea as you would think. The inside of a boxcar is about 10’X10’X40’. We got lucky, in that our room was a handicap suite, and had a huge bathroom, that we could store our suitcases in one corner. We have 3 sons, who were 13,9, and 6 at the time. It was amazingly cramped, and not a nice room to stay in. If you were a honeymoon couple, who wanted to be cozy, it would be the cat’s meow, otherwise…no.

Although it was a neat idea, the first owners went bankrupt. We stayed there right after it opened. The location does have a lot going for it. It’s just north of Two Harbors, Minnesota, 20 miles north of Duluth, along the north shore of Lake Superior. It’s also just a mile north of Betty’s pies!![dinner]

“Hey, bartender, what time does this hotel get into Vancouver???”
