Howdy all

Just wanted to jump in here and say hello to everyone. A Chief FD Officer in Sacramento with an unexplainable fondness for the vintage Loco’s (wife calls it compulsive) and related mechanicals - Nice to be here. Charlie

Welcome aboard, Charlie. You will find a lot of nice folks here who are quite knowledgeable about railroading, both past and present. You came to the right place. Enjoy yourself

Thanks Tom - Glad to be here. On a recent road trip(july) to Pueblo Colorado, we came back via Southern Colorado and did a must do trip thru Durango and Silverton. Had a great time, enjoyed the sites and hardware. Goto go back in the off season (less people) - little too much white stuff around right now tho. Charlie

[#welcome] Let me add my greetings to the forums You will be surprised on the amount of information here,. Merry Christmas from Kim myself from central Iowa Larry

Welcome!

Thank you Larry - Merry Christmas to you and your lovely bride - Look forward to spending some time here. Stay-Safe – Charlie

WELCOME AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Welcome aboard Charlie…Interest in RR mechanicals…and I’d bet a lot of us are as well.

Merry Christmas and enjoy the communication on the forum.

Welcome, Charlie. Don’t be afraid to share your knowledge of any topic. This is a wonderful place to learn and wonderful people contribute to our education.

Johnny

Thank you Quentin - Merry Christmas to you as well. Thank you for the warm welcome.

Thanks Johnny - Oh my…I didn’t know that knowledge was a requirement…hmmm…I’ll wing it if possible. So much pressure… (Merry Christmas!!)

Jim - Very nice of you to reply. Geeze, I have received such a warm welcome from everyone - I just may stick around a bit and enjoy the company (now you’ve done it) - Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to you and your family! - Charlie

Always happy to have a new member. I hope you can share your knowledge with us as we will with you!

Thanks RJ - Hope to be a good member of this fine forum - So many forums, how does one keep up? HAHA! - Thanks again and Merry Christmas

Welcome aboard.

BTW- You are not the only fire fighter on the board [;)]

VERY GOOD BROTHER! - Glad to hear it. Have you met other fire-guys with a common interest in trains? Merry Christmas to you and your family - Charlie

A Very Big Welcome Ol’ Tallowpot!! [#welcome]

Former FF/EMT and designed rail/highway crossing protection for a few years.

[:I] OOps, I didn’t mean myself, I should have been clearer. Walt (see above post) and Larry (Tree68) come immediately to mind.

Although I did fight forrest fires dureing the summers when I was younger [;)]

Interesting–most “old tallowpots” weren’t interested in fighting fires.

Welcome aboard, from a railroader who made two paid trips as a “tallowpot” (sans tallow, and sans pot back then!).

Chad - Hmm well, after reading your profile it seems you and I have parallels anyhow. I spent the first 20 years of my career in electronics as a Sr Tech. Worked Hughes Missle systems R&D for 13 yrs. (bzzzzzzt!!) electronics…fire…trains… they all spark when things go wrong. (right Brother?)
