Is This Rare?

Yesterday while railfaning, I saw a CSX “Devirsity” Unit. Its locomotive number was 699. Is this a rare unit?

This is the last unit of an order for GE power, and has a special “Diversity in Motion” graphic on the side to affirm the CSXT internal diversity programs. (Note that the lettering on the unit also mentions GE Transportation Systems – presumably to establi***hat GE, too, cares about diversity…)

To start investigating the diversity initiative at CSX, go here:

One thing to look at, in particular, is the overall ‘blueprint’ for 2004, in one of the links at the bottom. You may have to mouse around a bit to find specific references.

AFAIK, 699 is the only locomotive so marked. That makes it ‘rare’ in the same sense as locomotives painted for Operation Lifesaver, Desert Storm, etc…

Actually, I know there are two others. I THINK they are nos. 5000 and 5001, or something like that, but don’t quote me…I saw one of those two go past my old house some time ago.

hope to see it over here soon
stay safe

there are 3 others 5000,5001,601 or 600 all CSX

Uh, wouldn’t that make four others? I was pretty sure there were only three in total, anyway. Unless there are more than there were 1½ years or so ago

1)5000
2)5001
3)601 or 600

That makes three.

ok, it’s 5000,5001,699 that’s three Nora was right but I thought it was four

kevin

Those who can count, and those who can’t.

LC, it IS a GE.

Does that mean it’s rare until it turns black in the flames, and then is well done?..

It’s the “PC” or political correctness logo.

NAH, they just send it to Nawlins for some PePAH! Then it’s Cajun…

LC

If a GE catches on fire on the TFM, it’s a hot tamale.
