As a youngster I did not like mushrooms, though I quite enjoyed “hunting” for field mushrooms.
However now I enjoy them, and will have to try your recipe Mr. TF, they look Yum.
For my go to mushroom steak sauce, I sauté them in butter, (yes, No water!!) then add crushed garlic, wholegrain mustard, parsley and a good dollop of plain (no sweeteners added) Greek yoghurt, with cornflour to thicken.
I also make, thanks to my son for giving me the good gen, a not bad mushroom and bacon risotto, though I do need patience if I don’t want to end up with a burnt offering!!!

Bear,
Your Godber photos of New Zeeland logging bring to mind a few questions:

I’m remembering when a Friday Night was almost magical. So was a Saturday for that matter. Now all the days feel pretty much the same. Tired some where down the line just became normal.
Well, I’m tired of that, and although I’m certain some of you old guys, like me, possibly don’t really like this song. The signals in the video really fire me up on the weekend.
Forgive me Kids, I’m putting another quarter in the Diner juke box, and playing D7, to get some blood flowing again

The time stamps on all my threads here is screwy! I just replied to LAST Year’s April Diner. It was at the top of the page? I’m getting lots of threads from 2008 and later?
Anyway, this is what I posted erroneously in the April 2024 thread:
Isn’t it fun when the ‘real’ railroads (in this case EMD) plays with trains the same way we ‘basement dwellers’ do?

Got my John Deere back up and running. I had to replace the electric PTO clutch. For some reason it was drawing too much current and the voltage regulator couldn’t keep up. I bought a brand new one direct from Warner Electric and it was delivered in two days. John deere wanted $320+ for the part and direct from Warner was $165 including shipping.
Looks like we’re in for a rainy weekend — more train time!
Cheers, Ed
Good afternoon from the West Coast where it is 22c in the sunshine.
Just got back from knocking off 9kms and had an iced mocha, first of the season.
In April 1959 we moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver. My Dad was already there as he had transferred for work, so my Mom, sister and Mom’s parents and my sisters budgie bird Whiskers hopped aboard The Canadian for the trip West. Three days, two nights on the train. I do remember riding in the dome even though I was only two at the time.
Anyway Happy Birthday to The Canadian.
I have my own copy.
I spent two exhausting days doing heavy gardening in the front and that should take us to next year without the garden needing attention. I need to get a load of bark mulch for the wife’s rose garden and that will be it for the back. Yippee!
I got my care package from Firecrown right on time and did not get dinged for duties or taxes this time as I did last time. This time it would have been way more as I had ordered about twice as much, but I dodged a bullet as often happens when ordering from abroad, it is hit and miss.
The wife was bathing one of the dogs and the others were wondering who was next.
The dinner gong has gonged, I get a whole roast chicken to myself after my calorie burn today.
All the best to all.

Good Evening,
Have most of the heavy yard work done and I am feeling it. Just don’t have the energy I used to. The garage is full of those paper yard waste bags and they will be there until May7, the first pickup date for that stuff.
The Juncos are largely gone. Next wave will be the sparrows, white throated especially.
Nothing new on the RR front.
TF, those mushrooms look great. Nothing like a pile of them on a steak. My wife does them with balsamic vinegar plus some other stuff.
John, how are things in northern NS. Sure miss seafood chowder that I always had on a trip out your way. Is the Stone House restaurant still in operation in your town. They had great seafood chowder.
Time for dinner,
CN Charlie
White throated sparrows are some of my favorite songbirds. I love their songs.
Good morning all. A large coffee please, Flo.
Oldest grandson has his own diesel locomotive. He doesn’t run it often, preferring my bigger diesels. Anyway, out into the sunshine is ‘Rusty’.
Coffee time.

I believe this is in California – at least it’s in the California State Library. The graphic says, “Albion”, redwoods logs on railway train going to “dumping” grounds."
Good morning all. Hoping to pick up some different allergy medicine today, as my current one seems to have stopped working. It’s a pain not being able to go outside.
Good morning from the sunny edge of the Pacific where it should hit 22c today.
Just finishing off my second cup and will hit the 100 acre wood for a few kms.
My bottle of peppermint oil concentrate has arrived so will spray the vehicles to keep the rodents from eating the wiring and the perimeter of the house to keep the mice out. Also wasp will not build anywhere near the smell of peppermint.
Had a couple of ladies visiting the boss yesterday and I was playing my guitar when they arrived, Gordon Lightfoot of course. They asked if I knew this tune and I do, just had to go get my 12 string.
All the best to all.
A day late, but:
The band plays “Waltzing Matilda,”
And the old men still answer the call.
But year after year, the numbers get fewer.
Some day, no one will march there at all.
Charlie, saddly restaurants in Pictou tend to the transitory, and the Stone House has morphed.
Seafood Chowder is to be found, but my memory is so unreliable these days, I wouldn’t know just where to recomend. The Marina is said to be good, and we know the chef, but don’t know his chowder…
How things are generally on the North Shore I would say, quiet. There are always development plans, and the rebuilt replica of the ship Hector has been poised above the water ready for launch for far too long. This year, they say, she will be in the water. Then she has to be masted and rigged. Plans are for tours of the harbour under sail.
Things on the railroad? I made more trees yesterday, and planted them this afternoon. We have gone from this
did not get much done on anything today
Good Afternoon,
A very nice 21C here today. Got more yard work done. Now have 25 leaf bags in the garage. Have to keep them in there as they are paper.
Batman, I use peppermint oil on the engine of my car. It seems to work. After mice chewed up the wiring in the engine a few years ago had to take action. It cost $1100 to repair the wiring but luckily it was covered by insurance.
John, nice to hear things are quiet on the North Shore. Last time I was out there is about 20 years ago when the Stedmans store was closing.

Why do those tank cars rolling by at about the 2 minute mark look like a couple MDC cars?

Why do those tank cars rolling by at about the 2 minute mark look suspiciously like MDC cars on someone’s model railroad ??
