Hi David
You shook a blast out of the past from me. A good blast! The Marston’s, a family that moved to Lakevilke, Minnesota from Tennessee. The best tight knit family I’ve ever known.
Bessy cooked the best southern food I’ve ever had in my life, and was invited over for dinner often. Never did miss one of those meals!
Shane is still doing well, but we’re not any where near as thick as we were in our younger years. Time, unfortunately does that sometimes.
Thanks for sparking that memory.

Good morning from the cold, wet West.
Big hockey game tonight, Winnipeg ( my home town) has to win. Should be a barn burner.
TF, We use to send a lot of dogs down to California to be trained to be guide dogs and would also send dogs South to be avalanche recovery dogs. We would often donate one or two from each litter usually. The current administration put a halt to that, so we had to stop. It now takes about 7 or 8 months to get a dog Stateside with all the bureaucracy. We have not sent a show dog or service dog South since about 2017.
Happy Anniversary Chris! I also married a winner. Took me 40 years to decide who to marry but the wait was worth it.
I always loved working Stats at the airport. Nothin to do and triple time to boot. Being single I always made sure the family guys got their time off. Christmas was another favourite for me. I’d drive around the airport and stop for coffee at the airport fire station and then go have coffee at the airport RCMP detachment. Good times.
Time to play my guitar, then take a mutt for a soggy walk and then a little train time up to game time.
Rogers Pass, it would be another 61 years until the Trans Canada Highway was put through there.
All the best to all.
Evening
I’d only imagine. The powers that be, would be better sticking thier fingers in pies that would make a difference in the world for once, instead of sticking thier fingers in where they dont belong!

Ya know, they’ve had many incredible pictures of the man on the moon.
Even ones that look like Jackie Gleason that couldn’t be found tonight.
But in recent years, NASA’s been studying Mars, and found image formations of the Bear!

Beautiful, the maroon saddle tank loco!
Is that the loco on which Peco based their 0-6-0, would you know?
I have 2 of those Pecos as power on my .N30n section, using one as my Avatar…
Found time this afternoon to make some more trees, and install them on the layout
Howdy diners. Zoe, can I get a burger like TF’s? Thanks.
Busy day so far. Spent the morning planting petunias for our church. Wasn’t alone, or course, but planting around 150 petunias takes time! Took the family to breakfast once we were done, then back home for more yard work. Helped the wife with some weeding, moving mulch around, and got a drip irrigation system installed in one of her flower beds. We’re both feeling sore from it all today. Might have to be a hot tub night.
Brent, I’m pulling for Winnipeg too. I would like to see them or Edmonton win the cup.
TF, love the NYC video.
Chris, congratulations on the anniversary!
Everyone else, I hope you are doing well. I’ll try to check back tomorrow.
Not the current administration. The rules that went into effect in 2017 were actually formulated by the administration that ruled from 2009 – January, 2017. The rules about bringing dogs into the U.S. also was updated in 2024. In addition, California has their own rules about bringing in dogs and other animals.
We would send them to San Rafael guide dogs for the blind.

We have photos of the avalanche dogs we have donated at the ends of long lines on helicopters being lowered down to recue sights.
We have had police cars from Washington State and Oregon in our driveway before and the neighbours were wondering what was going on. We were donating dogs to be trained as drug sniffers.
We got one back from a local Police force once because it was too friendly and only ever wanted to play. It failed the training course.
One of the dogs we donated became an assistance dog to a person up North and is coming for a visit today or tomorrow.
Good afternoon all!
I finally got enough folks to help me shift my train table from the ping-pong table it was sitting on, to an actual frame where it will live. Now I can start laying track (in all my endless free time, of course). I did take the time to assemble a new bookshelf for under the train table. My future mother-in-law was cleaning out my fiancé’s grandfathers collection of train books, and I was happy to give them a new home. I have a lot to read, too.
Perfect!, sometimes somethings don’t need any elaboration

Evening All, Flo please could I have a mug of Horlicks, before I turn in.
Been another busy day of “Fix the Fence, Mow the Yard, Water my Neighbours wretched flowers”. Not much time for Trains.
We’ve been enjoying the first prolonged decent spell of Springtime weather in about 6 years, despite cold northerly and easterly winds, head west a few miles away for the north sea coast and the temperature is +5C
As a result, we’re always going out somewhere and the jobs at home are piling-up.
However, things are set to change, towards the end of next week.
Got to continue with the Fence Sunday, digging down at one Post so I can ‘Postcrete’ in, a piece of Angle-iron as an extra support - on Monday.
Hopefully, I will start cutting 2by1s for supporting the Ply Infills on my layout later tomorrow p.m.
Have as nice a Sunday as you can have, Paul.
I just asked my wife the details and the 2024 updates made it even harder to bring dog’s into the U.S. It is not a big deal for us, but is for the dog show crowd in the U.S. who want to bring in new puppies from abroad.
My wife use to go to dog shows all over the U.S. Not anymore, not worth the headaches. We are saving a fortune on all her travel. Except now she is going to Scotland. A lot of her dogs have gone to Europe and will be there. I may go with her as I have been to the UK many times but never made it to Scotland.
My wife is a repro expert and imports and exports animal semen and live dogs all over the world. Knows the regulations inside and out.
The older rules and the new rules were not made by the “current administration”.
Doesn’t matter to us who was running the show to us in 2017, we just hear it from our U.S. friends who say the rules changed in 2017 and blame the current admin. I will take your word for it that the same guy wasn’t in charge in 2017. To us foreigners we look at it as the U.S. changed regulations in 2017 regardless of who was in charge. There always seems to be a lot of blaming going on in the U.S. and that includes from all our American friends that come up and visit. But, I will yield to your expertise on the subject as my statement was a result of dog show peoples opinion. Dog show people are a strange lot, even compared to train guys.
just finish watching the rays beating marlins will be more train stuff sunday
The same guy was in charge in 2017 after January. The rules were made by the CDC prior to his taking office.
