For a good book about the building and demise of Pennsylvania Station, there’s “The Late, Great, Pennsylvania Station” by Lorraine Diehl (no relation). Copies show up regularly on Ebay for $10 to $15.
Paint is irrelevant to the actual carbody. The GG1 looks like a German U-boat (sub).
Don’t forget before Patty Mc G the EP-5’s were going to be Green and Gold striped beauty’s - the artwork exists and is in some publications (Marc Frattasio’s NH Mc Ginnis Era book).
I agree the EP-4 is a piece of work though - definitely a beautiful machine.
That’s what New York needs, A super “AMSHAK”… probably will have a Subway shop in it. 1960’s Dedja vu all over again when the politicians tore down old building and put up
’ modern’ building in their place…They sure wern’t going to learn from history or let it repeat itself.
…Tom…I have that book you mention by Lorraine Diehl…and it’s a good one…Now, what happened to all the plans to rebuild the Penn Station over in the Old Post Office building…
Heard several years ago the Madison Square Garden was in “trouble”…Don’t remember what…Financial or what…
That original Pennsy station was cathedral like…What a shame it was destroyed…Now it will be interesting to see if this latest surprise has any merrit…Hope so…
…Cablevision Systems indicated they plan to move the Madison Square Garden to the Farley Post Office…{where the Penn Station was to be created…!! }…Now that’s a twist…! I just read above info over on Google…Check on Madison Square Garden news if anyone is interested…That’s how I found it. What a turn around that would be…!
