Hello, I have much to learn when it comes to the railroad. How the whole system works, really fascinates me. With the help of another guy, we put together a PowerPoint on the history of our local railroads, it drew a huge crowd to the local historical society. Now I am working on a video to show the basics of how the whole system works in about 30 minutes. I would also like to split it up and post on YouTube.
I have many questions, but first would like to find explanations of some of the photo’s I have taken. What is the best way to post a picture, link to a website?
The short video’s I have done can be found on YouTube under user youbub33.
Welcome to the forum, WinonaBill. As Quentin, aka Modelcar, said, you will find many other contributors glad to answer your questions, and I do not doubt that you will be able to help us out from time to time. For the most part, we are easy to get along with, and respect one another. Feel free to drop in at the FlatWheel Cafe and the Trackside Lounge and join in our exchanges.
Hmmm. Seems like there used to be a FAQ with pointers about the forum code.
But - Welcome aboard!
I see you’ve got another question out there, and it looks like you may have handled the link thing, but…
Pictures can be posted by uploading them to a hosting site (your own or most any of the usual photo websites), then using the IMG tags around the URL for the picture.
Tags are always enclosed by brackets: .
The opening tag is the base tag IMG, with the brackets around it. The closing tag (tags almost always come in pairs) always places a slash (/) ahead of the tag (/IMG), again, surrounded by the brackets.
URL tags can take one of two forms. Simply placing URL tags (again, with the brackets) around the URL you want to link to will make it a link. The forum software will also do that for you automatically.
Another way to do it makes just a word or two be the link. In that case, you’ll use the following format: URL=http://www.website.xxx, placing the brackets around the whole string. After typing your link words, use a closing tag.
Thus, (using parens instead of brackets, to you can see for formatting)
You’ll find this a pretty eclectic group, both professional, and amatures; serious railfans and professsional railroaders.
.As you have already received some pretty solid information, already. A broad range of information on railroads and rail related topics, a good adjunct to the information available in TRAINS magazine. Enjoy, and Welcome!
Welcome to the forum! You first need to use a host site to post the photo’s. Then pull up the photo you wish to post. Copy the photo to the reply message screen (Where you write replies to messages.) and it should appear!
Subscribe to Trains, we get impatient for each new issue. I’ve been a regular reader since 1961 which I bought at the old Great Northern Depot in downtown Minneapolis.
