Looks like an end-of-summer thing: https://www.lionelstore.com/products/Sale_Items/
Those are sale prices…? [:S]
[:'(]
That’s what I was thinking if there sale prices my wallet can’t afford any of them
i was considering a T-shirt, but noticed that they don’t come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Boy Scout set looks tempting…
…however, I have earned my Eagle, so I may just be a little partial to anything BSA related.
I’m kinda confused thou check this site out they say the retail price for the set is $299.99 and they offer it at $249.99 thats $70 below Lionel’s so call sale price
woops forgot to put site in lol here it is http://hobbystation.net/2011preorderlionel6-30161boyscoutsofamerica0-8-0steamfreightstarterset215.aspx
It’s ridiculous, but that’s the way it’s been since the 90’s. I think I’ll stick to Marx…

Think they need to take a lesson from RMT on how to do a sale.[(-D]
Bear in mind lads, Lionel can’t slash their prices TOO much without underselling and angering their dealers. It’s a sticky situation for manufacturers of hobby items, trust me.
I think my bank account just fainted from sticker shock! WOW!
Firelock’s point is very valid, and although their prices might seem high to most of us, there are people willing to pay those prices and that is their choice to do so. Lionel must be doing something right to be able to sell their products at the prices they choose; no one can force people to buy. In the end, the market dictates their prices; otherwise, they would not be in business long.
Although as Kev stated, RMT has some great sales, and I would not complain if Lionel dropped their prices like that for a day.

Well, RMT’s list prices are also pretty absurd as well. It’s just that they have apparently figured out they can’t sell stuff at those prices, apparently Lionel didn’t get the memo. [:)]
