MARCH 2015 COFFEE POT. 11 years running. Sweet ice tea and grits for the southern gents, coffee and donuts for the Yanks

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!! My family arrived from Ireland in 1849 and decided that Ohio a better place to live than NC. [(-D]

For the first time I have a bad sound board from ERR. This would have been the sixth ERR install to go flawlessly, but… [:(]

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!

Not a lot going on.

Buckeye I just sent one back as it was in my engine that was a shelf queen it did work when I put it there about 2 years ago and was doing fine when brought it down then all of a sudden it crapped out I mainly had scratching sound over garble. That was the only one that I had a problem with. I got the replacement monday so need to go down there and install it. Guess which engine that did it ( makes sense now I look at it ) hint it’s NS sd-40C [:-^]

Hope all having a good day.

Evening gang and Happy St Patrick’s Day! Have a green one on me!

Work on regearing a 400E Proto Drive Motor assembly going well. Turned down some heavy duty stainless gears to replace the original thin cut steel gears and all looks good. Also changed from 48 DP to 24 DP gears to double the tooth size so they mesh better. Doing this for an entity that wants to run Std Ga 400E all day long. The stock gears are not made for that And their attempts to do that met with quick drive failures.

Watch out Buckeye! Ohio River ice chocked and flooding. This is good for the South as it will fill the Mississippi and make for better Gulf oysters in the Delta region.

Fife - right you are!

Just found out I may have an April York conflict with an event at my sister’s in Houston the 18th. Will have to see if I can make both work.

Oh - it came close to 80 today! Rain tomorrow! It’s good.

Have a great evening all!

Evenin’ fellas and gals; Yea, i know it’s been a while; however, all is well with me and mine. More updates in the near future, i hope; gotta listen to my guru, the “O” man at 8 PM. later.

Hello there,

Quick drop in to say. Happy Saint Patrick’s day.

According to my late aunt the Wallace side of me came from Scotland in the 1800’s. Mom’s mom was native American. Her dad seems to be of German decent. Dad’s mom was Smith…So that makes me? ???

Roy…that seems like quite the challenge. Let us know how it works out. Hope it works out for you to make York! !!!

Fife…how’s your York prognosis?

Traindood…however ya been?

Best get to sleep

Prayers for those in need.

Good evening all,

Long day at work. Staying home tomorrow. Still fighting the cold and all the commotion at work makes it worse. Sometimes you just get tired. Will take it easy tomorrow and return to fight the wars on Thursday. One piece of good news is that one of the pains in the posterior is leaving in 3 weeks. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha. Still too cold. But I enjoyed The Day - went to a late afternoon lecture on Irish art and had a Guinness for dinner.

Kev, when you go north with your uncle, stop at the Fox River Trolley Museum: http://www.foxtrolley.org/ too - you’d like the trolleys and old CTA trains - a May Sunday might be a good time to hit both. The IRM may finally be working their Frisco steam engine this summer. Check out the 5 web cams at http://irm.org - looks like a nice day on the tracks.

Mornin’ boys. Breezy & 71 yesterday, clear & 27 today in the Mid-Atlantic region. Sheesh… Just finished watching Guns For Hire on the web (4 parts). Now I need to take apart an old curio cabinet for the trash tonight.

Banksie - no york for me.

Wasn’t yesterday Brent’s B-day…?

Good morning,
Cloudy, 37 and they say it should hit 50 later. I need to restock firewood.
Thanks Doug, I copied the links so I will have them later. Looks like a nice place.
Hey, Fife, I have a question. Maybe you know the answer. If you use your debit card and run it as a credit purchase is that any better than running it as debit purchase or is it just as bad as long as it is, after all a debit card?
On the train front: I ordered one of those mini flash drive video cameras today to use with the trains running on the layout. Hope it works, could be fun.

If it was Brent’s birthday yesterday then, Happy Birthday Brent. [bday]

Hi Guys. Hope all are doing well. So glad winter is starting to lose it’s grip on us.

I’m very much looking forward to York and some warmer weather!

Kevin from what I have been told no it’s still a debit card.

John for some a credit card is not a option

Afternoon all just a lazy day there calling for rain the next two days oh joy. yes I know we could use it just I have a DR. appointment down town Friday and the folks around here don’t really know how to drive in sunshiney let alone if it rains/snow

Good evening all,

Stayed home today. Rested. Needed it. Grandsons left this evening. I think they had a good time. Watched Arrow tonight. Maybe back to villian of the week theme. Watched Flash and Izombie Tuesday night. Izombie is by the same person who did Veronica Mars, so it is worth a watch or two. Will go back to work tomorrow. More fun and games. I hope everyone has a good day.

Thur. 76 Fri. 79 Sat. 78

I was reading a 97 Model Railroader and came across a ad for a 1:32 Row & Co. Big Boy. Only 75 made, didn’t give the weight, 4’2” long, 10’ min. R. $11,250. brass and stainless.

Morning all. Back from my new GP Dr. She is young, Arab and Muslin [wears head scarf]. She can out talk me. Knows her stuff. On a diet [been on one as lost 5 lbs in two weeks]. Her’s is different. One I can do without starving and still works.

Chilly and suppose to rain. Now gotten below freezing at nights for some time.

Later.

Mornin’ Fellas

My bank provides my Debit Card purchases the same level or fraud protection as my Credit Card purchased. Just sayin’

Yep - Tuesday was the 44th anniversary of my birth. Spent it watching Season 1 of Vikings, trying to install a CAI on the Durango - had to back it out since I snapped the NPT coupler [banghead], the picked Christina up from daycare early and took her to see Cinderella. In all I had a marvelous day and the time spent with Christina was the icing on the cake.

Good morning all,

Chief, glad you got a better diet. That’s what I need. Something I can do. Whatever I’ve been doing doesn’t work. Incidentally, Three out of five of our doctors are from foreign countrys. Not sure about religions but it looks like the medical profession is hurting for home grown recruits. Cost of education must be a big factor.

Our grandson has been accepted by several colleges and quite a few scholorships. Has until May to decide which one.

Took his mother out to lunch yesterday which was enjoyable. Stopped by bank to satisfy my wife’s curiosity about a thirteen year old savings book. The account had been closed in 2008 and transferred to something else. I new it but had to convince her paranoia.

She has appointment with the shrink today.

Need to tackle income tax preparation soon. Have appointment with tax lady on the 31st.

later,

Ray

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work. Did not miss much yesterday. One of the coworkers was out today. Went for a shortened walk today. Was dressed for weather. Traffic was absolute bear coming home. People need to understand the left lane is for passing only and not a free lane to cruise at 69 MPH while backing up 10-20 cars behind them. Ugh. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Just checking in. Quick stop.

Damp weather here. Foggy half the morning. Maybe rain tomorrow.

Brent - Happy Belated Birthday[bday]

Spring tomorrow!

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Evening guys!

Had to come on and post, and give warning to ALL espically in So. Cal. ! I’M DRIVING !! Last time was over a year ago, and did well, so I’m begining to get some of my life back!

Ironically, the driving I did was to go and get a loaner car from the car dealership. What a hassle that has been. Our company van that we use for going to various shows had been recalled, due to the Torque Converter. So 2 weeks ago called about scheduling an appointment. The appointment was set for a week later (3/12), took it in, and at that time Service writer indicated it would take maybe 2 days. Fine. 3 days later called to check, and the Service Rep said 1 maybe two more days, no problem. Two days later called again, service rep was not available, people on hand indicated that nothing had been started yet! So now its been with them a full week, and today was told that two vehicles were ahead of mine! I thought I would just take it to another dealer. They offered us a loaner cargo van, and in all realty its fine, no big deal. Other than the principal of it all. Oh well.

Been working on a number of outside projects, redid our malibu lights in the backyard, (also where my G-Scale “dog bone” is located), converting the solar lights to low voltage. Then re-painting a Pagoda made from bricks and plow shares, almost done with that and the wife comes up with a great idea. Redo the patio chairs and tables. (10 chairs, 3 tables). So been busy, and enjoying it.

Also had some good news. I was recently determined to be 40% disabled from the VA. (Due to Agent Orange & Viet Nam.) Therefore by being 40% the VA covers ALL my medical costs, Dr, Hospitalization, Prescriptions, etc. Only thing not covered is dental. So we had an appt with Soc Sec this am, and found out I dont need to continue with Medicare Supplemental Ins… Surprisingly, th

Hi, Cloudy on the North Bluff but mild with a high of 60 today. I will take it!

Shake & Bake good to hear your driving again. WOW a year without driving. Same you would get here for a DUI. [:O]

On the debit card question. I think it was missed. What was said about debit and credit cards is pretty much understood. My thing is this, and I will try to be clear. At least here where I live a person can make a credit transaction with a debit card. You may not know this if you don’t have any debit cards. You do know you can not make a debt transaction with a credit card. At least we can’t that I know of.
For example, If I go to the gas station or the hardware store and get some gas, milk and bread, or some paint and nails. When I go up to the clerk they will say debit or credit and I can say credit, swipe my debit card sign the receipt get my copy and be on my way. I have not used or given my pin number. If I pull up to the pump, I can press pay here with credit swipe my debit card, punch in my ZIP code and it will process the transaction. Again not using or giving my pin number. Also these transaction can take several days to come out of my account. On the other hand if I go to the big box store and swipe my debit card the pad knows it is a debit card and request the pin number, when I enter the pin number and end the transaction, that money leaves my account in real time and is gone just as it would be if I gave them cash.
So the question I have is. Is using the debit card as a credit transaction safer than doing a debit transaction using the pin number??? I guess it don’t matter but it was the question, Another thing that would be nice to know is when you do use a debit card as a credit transaction does the vender get hit with the transaction cost?

Oh yeah I forgot , There are gas stations here (most along the interstate) that if you hit the pay here with debit it will tell you to see
