March Coffee Pot, 14 years and still going. Green beer for all those above the Mason-Dixon, green grits for those below.

Hello there,

Another busy fish fry. 818 paid through the line.

Wupped. Had a shower, a hot tub soak now a glass of wine before crashing.

I did get to say hello to a group of former coworkers who came to support our school.

The local tv station did a segment on our “Seafood Buffet” this evening. If I can find it I’ll post a link.

Bed is calling.

Prayers for those in need.

Good evening all,

Very quiet day at work, but did get one task completed. Raining at noon today. Watched Blue Bloods. Good episode. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening all, I have been AWOL for a few days. Not much going on. There was a train meet last Sunday but I did not go. Spent the day with my son who wanted to watch a car race on TV. Weather is warming up a little here in the daytime. We have been getting winds at night lately and colder temps. Went to breakfast with my train buddies today and picked up some Dixieland Jazz record albums one of the guys was giving away. Some of them are real jewels. I was glad to get them. I still can play vinyl records as long as my turntable last. Sounds like UP is getting ready for their trip to Ogden Utah for the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad. The 844 is going over there first in April followed by the big boy in early May. When it’s over they will double head back to Cheyenne. Got my UP Calendar for this year but the cover is the only picture of the meeting of the rails in 1869. Talk later,

Ray

Good Evening,

Ray, I too was a no show, did watch the Nascar race, it was a little boring. Expect the same for this week at Fontana. I actually had an opportunity to go (free), but would rather see it at home.

Its official the California drought is over, (except Sandy Ego). And the weather has finally warmed up, in the mid 70’s this week. With all the rain, the ground is soft and the weeds are tall! Spent 3 days this week pulling weeds, it now looks like someone lives here. Glad thats over!! We did manage to get a day off this week, so Kay and I went to a museum in Carlsbad. Its called the Green Dragon Tavern. The place is cool, a really nice pub, and the museum is of the founding of the US. Lots and lots of artifacts from the Maffachefts area. (long s). Then a really neat drive home, through the Poppy Fields at Lake Elsinore. Wild poppys covering the hills and mountains, really phenomenal, and beautiful. (Reason California is called the “Golden State”.)

Going to make a run to Vegas on Saturday, help Chris move all his stuff back here. He accepted a position with the state as an Enginering Geologist. So going to get a place here. He finished taking the tests for his PG certification today. (Same as a PE test, only in Geology.)

I WAS planning an extended road trip in late May/June timeframe. But decided to cancel it, due to the situation with Kay’s parrents. Doing the planning ended up where it would be about 6,400 miles by the time I got back. Realized IF I were to assume 500 miles/day, it would take 13/14 days! And I know I wouldn’t make 500/day more like 400. And I would need 3 to 4 weeks if I wanted to see anyone. And, just don’t feel comfortible leaving her alone with the situation at hand. Just know something would happen. So best to wait

Phish - Thank you.

dbaker - Did the boy even have time to unpack…? Have him rent a POD.

Banks - N&W 611 is coming to Strasburg late Sept-Oct, giving the YORKies a little something extra.

Morning railfans!

Sunny and 50’s today as predicted. Below normal temps continue, like 10 degrees below normal.

SJ - Wednesday - Spring!!!

Fife - seeing the 611 would be a real treat for Oct York!

DonB - sorry you cannot do your road trip, family is important.

SPRay - not to worry, if the time comes you can get a new turntable that connects with a USB cable to a PC and some music players (like a blu-ray DVD/CD player). Surprisingly - I have been abe to find belts for my two turntables.

I am amazed that it took UP somewhere around 10 years ea to refurbish the 844 and 3985. Doing the BB in just a few years with more complex custom built tools and parts (i.e. stay bolts).

Afternoon. Worked with PD until 5:30 this morning. Stayed busy. Officers appreciated it.

Don, prayers for Kay. Tough.

Banks, no little fish fry.

Ray, enjoy the time and take it easy.

Chores out as 61 and sunny.

Later.

Howdy all!

Temperature dropped here, only in the low 40’s today. Now they’re saying we may have a last gasp of winter Monday with an inch or so of snow.

If you haven’t seen it, Nebraska is in a world of hurt right now. Got clued into it by a Nebraska guy who posts on our Rutgers board. They had a foot of snow, then 2 or more inches of rain, followed by another 5 inches of snow. Apparently they have severe flooding in some areas of the state, and that it is going to affect downstream as all of this rushes to the Missouri River.

Planning on organizing the attic today, Linda has just been throwing stuff up there pell mell, so a lot of space wasted.

On with the day - have a good one!

Don…Take care of the family and don’t buy candy at that candy store again.

For over 30 years I have driven through Sugar Creek, Ohio a small village southwest of Akron, Ohio. Today I ate lunch for the first time in Sugar Creek and sat by a window. Across the street on the bank building there is a mural. I’ve seen it before, but today something moved. Take a look at the video.

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

Afternoon guys,

Not bad out today, Mid 40s and lots of sun. Feels good.

Graded the lane and called a guy yesterday about 300 Ton of gravel for late April delivery.

Ordered air filters for the John Deere 3203. Took off the snow chains and ballast box then put on the grader for the lane work.

Got the CPR V5000 phone call blocker I ordered and my Government refund check today so that is good. I can get some of the things I need for maintenance around here done now.

That is cool Buckeye!!! [Y]

Don, you got to do what you got to do. Invite is always there.

Beer thirty.

Good evening all,

I had a good practice time today with a 3:28:56 for a 3.76 MPH average. Dragged myself thru Mass and then crashed after that. American team qualified well for F-1 race. Might get a podium. Weather was sunny. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello there,

40s with a few flurries today. Slept late and didn’t do much. Got the littlest grandaughters. We walked to a local eatery for supper then they “helped” make a monkee bread for tommorows St. Pat’s day pot luck at church.

Found the link to the TV show at last nights buffet if anybody would like to watch. Part 1

Part 2

Had friend that is a contractor give me a quote to rebuild my back porch into a mud/laundry room, soffit and fascia on the house and little garage and replace the roofs on the house and both garages. I will have to finish the inside of the room and hire someone to replace the gutters. Cost came in lower than I expected.

The girls left and bed is calling.

Prayers fo those in need

Mornin’ boys. Sunny & 37 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.

What is it about prom dresses…? Took the youngest princess and wifey to Winchester yesterday to look for one. I was thinking cool, Mario’s Trains is in Winchester, I’m there. Hit every shopping center, as well as a gown shop, net gain—> 0. I was so frustrated, with both the women, that when we drove by Mario’s (and Wifey pointed at it), I just was not in any condition for a little self-indulgence. 8 hours. 165 mile round-trip.

AAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!! [banghead][banghead][banghead]

anjdevil - Watched your latest video. Try using those O-72 pieces in place of some of your long straight-aways. It might increase visual interest and a little longer run.

Roy - A lot can get done quickly when your host railroad throws 10 million at it…

[bday][bday] lionroar88!

Morning all. Beautiful day out and 51 degrees.

Finish pruning grapevines today.

No rain guessed for a week. [:D] May go to the farms and do some work.

[bday][bday] Brent. Many more.

Fifey, wemens. Can drag out a day shopping. Wifey picks up about everything in the stores. Then puts it back down. A mess. About half of what she buys, she takes back later. [%-)]

Enjoy the week ahead.

Just got back from Kansas City last night. The robot team had a competition there Thursday, through Saturday. Did pretty well - we ended up on the #2 seated alliance and made it into the finals. Unfortunately, we broke an axle and did not win. We did win a quality award and get picked as a wildcard team for the championships in Houston, Texas next month. Makes all of the work we did on the robot Monday through Wednesday worthwhile.

Looks like I’ll have some time this week to get some detail work done on the Thomas the Train layout at the KATY museum done this week. I’ve got to tidy up the wiring and install ties and ballast.

All for now.

No winter break here, woke up to 4" of fresh heavy snow. The Robbins that showed up this week are pissed off. I am going to just let it lay there and melt. 31 now but heading to 40 later.

I serviced the Husqvarna mower last week and it came right to life. I got the new blades the other day but will not put them on till I have run over all the winter fall of sticks and shit first.

Just watching the talking heads on TV.

Howdy all!

Sunny and cold here, about 38°. Supposed to get a bit of snow tonight? Last gasp of winter I guess. Then it’ll remain warm through the end of March.

fife: you’re first, and biggest, mistake was going along! You should have set a budget and sent them on their way.

Worked in the attic yesterday, trying to put some order to all the $#&*^#$ Linda stuffed up there once I finished building out those sections. Still need her to go through a bunch of things. Worse is that she puts stuff up there and loses or forgets about it. I found a new pair of sneakers intended for either Tyler or Corey, which will no longer fit them. I think they’ll fit me even though they’re not the style I normally wear. But really? We also pulled down some of the boards the builders used to keep things aligned before fastening everything together. It wasn’t cost effective for them to remove and reuse them, so they just left ‘em. That helped to open up another section (once we cleared out everything Linda had dumped in there) over Tyler’s room which I plan to also floor and build out a 4’ shelf against the end of the house.

Anyway, on with the day. Have a good one!

Evening folks!

A beautiful day today, sunny, warm/cool…60’s.

The missus clogged the sink drain line. The DAs that built this house ran the sink drain near (if not exactly) horizontal for about 5 ft to the main drain/vertical. So if one ignores my constant harangue (24+ yrs) about run water first, lots of it, then carefully run stuff through the disposal a bit at a time and let it clear before dumping more in,…so got it cleared…after the umpteenth time the wife is now banned for life from operating the disposal…[:-^] - I may put a key switch on it…

Banks - could not get the video to play, but the preview shows a really nice plate of french fries, fried shrimp, and fried fish!

Fife - feel your pain, daughter is looking for a wedding dress…[sigh]

Good evening all,

Made reservations for TCA convention, both trips and hotel room. Watched 2 Hill Street Blues. Ate too much for supper. Ugh. I have got to learn… Nice weather today. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello there,

today’s activities. Mass, blood work, breakfast out, St. Pats day pot luck, a visit with Mom, groceries. Then home for homemade pitza. Now ready to crash.

Roy…I tried the link. It took forever to buffer and start playing but it did.

No cameo, they asked but the kitchen is to hectic to have them there.

Tomorrow is another day.

Prayers for those in need
