I am a novice and my son has MTH track and set, we now have bought the Polar express with Lionel Fastrac. My question is can I connect the two sets and have them run? Is there an adapter track I can get to connect them?
Howdy cadworks. First of all, your posts on O=gauge trains would probably get more responses on the CTT board.
I’m not aware of an adapter track for which you are hoping. If you are determined to use both Fastrac and Realtrax on the same loop, you would probably have to pick up a few tubular track adapters fot each manuf. In my opinion, the new Lionel track looks better, and I would be more inclined to take the leap 100% in that direction.

We have a lot of MTH track and switches etc. so would not go to fastrac for now, but did want to use the little amount we got with the set…
Yeah, you didn’t indicate you had a cache of Mike’s track, especially the switches, which are a small fortune. Since the Polar set may wind up an heirloom, I’d just leave it int the box for now. I tried mixing Mike’s with K-Line on a couple Christmas layouts, and never really liked the transition.
Is your son really into trains?
None I’m aware of … but fastrack stays together better and looks much better .

I have bought a Real Trax adapter to lionel 3 rail, now I think I need 3 rail to fastrac adapter…If this doesn’t derail regularly I will be surprised.
The Polar Express was a gift from Santa to my daughter, (she has to have her own train!) so it will not stay in box for future collectors…
