Need Track Plan Ideas For Room (HO Scale)

Any Ideas for layout and space, 12 x 12 FT

I wanna have room for top right corner to be a workbench

A few questions first:
Where is the door?
Is there a closet?
Are you planning to operate sitting down or standing up?

Paul

Also, what scale, modelled timeframe, and particular theme you wish to achive, please.
Cheers, the Bear. :slightly_smiling_face:

Ho Scale, Door is right side (grey and brown) Windows Middle Top (White black)
Steam or Modern, Standing, And good for operations and or switching, Closet is outside e the room (the cutout is the inside) This will also be my first real layout

Hi, are you wanting Continuous Run or End to End, please?
Paul

Continuous with branches

Gidday Elliott, 2nd Paul asked the question I should have asked regarding continuous run, so which way does the door open?
Also, if I’m getting this correct you want your work bench to the right of the window, and at sitting down height?
Cheers, the Bear. :slightly_smiling_face:

Correct on the workbench, and the door opens in

To the left or right?

left, I also was hoping to have a industry and switching layout with a town and mountain for a mine industry.

Gidday Elliott, you’ll be getting sick of me but having made a copy of your room image, I’m having trouble discerning the actual placement and width of the door, the grey and brown isn’t clear to me.
Cheers, the Bear. :slightly_smiling_face:

Okay, I have one with the room measurements and clear door i made, From the door to wall Its about 4 ft 9 inch

-Side note
Could it have a few levels and tunnels?

Gidday Elliott, is that door around 6 feet wide, and have I got the opening in the correct orientation? If it is correct then it is going to make it interesting how to achieve the continuous run!

You have to bear in mind that the following is what would suit Me in the dimensions you have given!

So, a minimum Bear sized work bench would be 3 foot wide x 2 feet deep x 30 inches high.

At 6’2” I would prefer the layout bench height to be 54 inches and a maximum 26 inches deep, this allows for reach for switching. The layout depth would also vary, for instance it would be possibly be only a foot deep over the work bench, so as to avoid head butting it when I stand up!!

22 inch minium mainline radius curves.

Yes, you could have a tunnel (s) but just remember that that would cut down on your train viewing. That said, a small tunnel could make a handy view block.

While your room doesn’t really allow you a traditional 2 deck layout, a helix being a space gobbler, and a nolix probably at too steep a grade, you could have a higher track built up on the benchwork at the back of the layout.

Just some initial thoughts,
Cheers, the Bear. :slightly_smiling_face:

I would be thinking along the lines of a corner to corner (left top to left bottom) for the continuous run, possible even multi level, wiith large industrial areas in the top and bottom. with a fairly large yard at the top right by the workbench where its easily accessible from where you are working. The insutrial area at the bottom could be quite a bit more spread out…yes, I can smell the timber of a logging area in there with steep grades …
