Well boys and girls, get out your cameras. The new BNSF 70ace are on the property[:D]. I was just on my employee web site and the BNSF 9370 is in Cicero yard in Illinois. Now this also shows the 9371-9374 on the property but it does not show a terminal it is at but I think they are also at Cicero yard. I leave up dates where these locomotives will be traveling when they are assigned to trains. But for now they are not assigned to any trains and are at Cicero. Stay tuned for more up dates.
I really can’t wait to run one and see what these EMDs can do.
I guess I put this up a little soon, but yes the 9371-9374 are all in Cicero, and now 9378 and the 9385 have just popped on the screen also in Cicero yard. Looks like a fleet of Aces just showed up and they keep cumming. ABOUT TIME!!!
They’re not in Cicero just yet so don’t get too excited!!..here’s a photo of 9372 in Sarnia, ON Canada today… http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=329786. BNSF 9370, 9371, and 9372 are hooked up together and are on their way to Chicago via CN. I’ll be in Polo all weekend starting tomorrow afternoon waiting for them, although the Aurora Sub doesn’t usually see AC units I’m still hoping to catch them…so keep the updates coming bnsfengineer!!!
What kind of training would an existing engineer need to operate these -vs- an SD70MAC?
I ask because in my profession (Aviation), before one operates any type of aircraft that they are not certified for, they must have proper training consisting of ground school, simulator time, and a check flight. Just curious if the railroads are that way. Of course, aircraft types are vastly different from model to model. My airline fly’s 3 different versions of the MD80 and to operate all three, you must be certified on all three different models, oh and maintain those certifications for all three.
Hey joegreen, how can you dispute bnsfengineer when he took his information from the BNSF EMPLOYEE web site which is going to be (no doubt) a whole lot more accurate than anything you or I can offer (unless you happen to also be a BNSF employee at Cicero like bnsfengineer). Coming from a BNSF employee with much better information than we mortals have, I guess that’s as close to “the horses mouth” as we can get.
Besides, If bnsfengineer says they’re in Cicero, that’s a good enough excuse for me to avoid doing some yard work[:)] Maybe they’ll run a half dozen of them light out to Eola like I saw with a batch of new GE AC’s last fall.
When new locos are delievered, does anyone know what happens? Is there a closing where they sign the papers and get the keys? An inspection or test run? Do all new locos for BNSF get turned over in Cicero?
I say this because they were in Canada yesterday…did you see the photo…DUH!!! The 3 engines weren’t released from testing until Wednesday, so I highly doubt they got from London to Chicago already.
Wow, I did an inquirey on our employee website on that power for kicks and sure enough it showed in Cicero. Maybe next outbound trip, I will look up the foamer websites and see if there are any defects with our power instead of relying on our little chicken-poo company TSS. I even can look up the times that this unit arrived Cicero and get AEI info on it. So I highly doubt that you know what you are taling abouut there Joe.
well today those tree units 9370-9372 are still here in the CN yard in Sarnia, last night 503 was suposed to take them to Port huron however htat got canceled, tonight however they should be out tonight on CN train 393. Not sure why they are seen showin gup on the BNSF systems computers since clearly they were still here as of only a few minutes ago…
70ace’s are being called out of Chicago on the 31st at 23:30. There will be BNSF5931, BNSF9370, 9373, 9378, and 9385. They will supposedly be called out of Galesburg at 06:00, and Creston, Iowa at 12:00 or so on April 1st. Stay tuned for more updates…
The SD70aces are right now in Maxon Iowa not to far for Creston. The train that these engines are on is just a light consist train DCHCALN and they only ran 3 engines on it the BNSF 9373, 5931,9385. I don’t know what happened to the other 3 units that were supposed to be on there. There shows to be 9 70aces at Cicero, and a total of 11 units on the computer system. They are to be called out of Lincoln this evening around 1800. Let you all know more.
