Brent,
Fascinating pic. Somewhere with a jungle, I suppose? The Yucatan?
I dunno Mike. Someone just sent the pic to me as they knew I have an interest in trains. I think instead of a rotary plow on the front, a rotary hedge trimmer would be appropriate.[(-D]
One things for sure, if that place has seasons, operating steam when the leaves are falling is asking for trouble…[}:)]
Talk about a view block! I’d guess that’s probably somewhere in England. Lots of the public roads there look similar and the trimming is done by the passing vehicles.
Could also be an Appalachian short line
I was thinking Georgie, Alabama, or Mississippi. Lots of trees lots of Kudzu.
I’ve seen this pic before. IIRC it was taken in either Russia or eastern Europe.
ETA: Found it. It’s in Kleven, Ukraine.

Steve’s right. I saw it on Facebook. It is actually in the Ukraine.

Batman Brent; Cool!!! -Are you setting up a Challenge? A future layout could really be neat with that, Especially at night with our lighted units, oh my!!!
SteveS; thanks for the links, that is really cool, I shared them & the resomses are the same, really cool!
Hmmm the possibilities…
Thanks guys!!!
Lion that looks very jungle…eee. Just the kind of place we would find a lion lurking. On the edge of the African Brooklyn Savannah. When will we see that in the classroom?
Chad, Hmmmm, a challenge? So lets see a photo of something you would like to make an attempt at scratch building one day. Something you keep looking at and go, yep I’m going to take a crack at that one day.
That goes for everyone.[B]
Brent, & All;
I will get in Major (PC Trouble) for this, but as you posted it is something I will ‘not ever,’ ‘WANT TO’ model…
However, my track laying abilities does allow for such pictures now… unforunately in scale…
I do not want to offend anyone, or the friend, of the/a friend, of someones friend, etc.
OK…
So here it is; A Discussion of folks in the picture:
A Large Meat Lovers & a Family order of Cheese Sticks & Extra White Butter Garlic Sauce for the NTSB Folks… & What ever anyone Else would like Please…
Hey, & Who’s got a Ladder?

No off fence taken here. [Y] [swg]
According to the co-ordinates on the Amusing Planet link, it’s this place (google Satellite)
Could be, unfortunately the resolution isn’t really there in that view (Bing really isn’t any better)
Well, that certainly works for me, looks like the ‘foliage’ terrain that was pictured!
It Fits…
So, I say;
Believe it or not, there’s a 2-lane highway between Boonton and the coast in California that strongly resembles Brent’s original photo - or did when I drove it in the mid-80s.
For a real modeling challenge, somebody might try the Winchester House in San Jose, with complete interior detail - stairways to nowhere, doors that open on blank walls, exterior-type windows between rooms…
Chuck (Modeling Central Japan in September, 1964)
Yeah, No!, I do not want to Model that,
-even though that may be an impressive demographic.
Perhaps this is why we do not have Lunch Hour on the Chicago Metra Rails…
Hey, He said “…Ow!!!”
Chicago Baby!!!
I forgot to mention;
I am modelling the the FP40PHM-2 loco…
There will be pix once I cut in the windshields.
It was a Kato FP40PH, but got altered, severely…
Now, as it has been, for over 2.5 years, a race! I was hping the MP36S would be here by now, but it almost looks like my shelved FP40PHM-2 may just beat it to Photography…
If I only had a dedicated 40Hrs to it, I have all the parts, & what not, just not the time…
Donno, which one will come in first…
