From my trip in Alaska last week.
BTW: Maximum grade is 3.9%
These have been sized down to 33%. The originals are available upon request. The trestle has a 5000 ft waterfall running underneath it. (More pics of it are available)

Hey! I was there too on July 1st! I took about a jillion digital photos, same gray skies too. We arrived on the cruise ship MS Volendam out of Vancouver, B.C. I was lucky to see their steam train in operation, although it wasn’t the one we were on. It left before we did on the shovel-nosed diesel train. Here’s one of my shots:

The train was ahead of ours, way up the track. There was also another diesel train ahead too. Too bad the rotary plow had a walkway on both sides, no overall photos could be taken. And the stairway wasn’t even open! Fun trip!

Those are very nice pics. I love the first one especially.
Wow! I think that is the most detailed MR I have ever seen![:-^]
Nice photos. This railroad is reputed to be one of the most spectacular on the planet. Not for the acrophobe.

I took spacemouse’s “scenary layout for beginners” to heart. I wanted everything to look real so I built it 12 inch to the foot scale. [:D]
Wow, the same day I was there!
We came in from up North on the Diamond Princess.
I wish I had hopped a ride on the Alaskan RR, but we were running short on time.
Awesome Shots. My mom wants to go there but she doesn’t like boats, and I’d be bored out of my mind on the boat.
I think your mom would love the scenery and not even realiaze she is on a boat, and there would be enough for you to do, you wouldn’t be bored. I highly recommend an alaskan cruise. I don;t like heights, but I was leaning out the rear of the train car taking pics on the white pass rr. Loved it.
Hi There;
Great pics. We are going on Sept.3. Really looking forward to it. You just made the waiting that much harder.[:)][:D]

That’s really cool! I’ve always wanted to go to Alaska (and according to my Dad if I get a 3.5+ GPA in High School we will be). Were you able to see the Alaska RR? Any pictures?
We also went to Ak back in 2001. We sailed out of Vancouver on the ryndam stoipping at several ports before boarding the train at Seward right on the dock. Then we boarded the Denali Express at Anchorage stopping at Denali Park for a day and then on to Fairbanks. From there it was by bus to Eagle, then airjet boat to Dawson in Yukon, then bus again to Carcross to board the White Pass RR to Skagway, AK. The train trips were absolutely beyond description to any justice with mere words. If you can possibly find a way to get to Alaska, take these train rides, it will be worth every penny!!!
Great pics guys! Thanks for sharing!
