Prohibited "words"?

In attemping to post two repleies today the software told me I could not use two common words in our language.

Dear Firecrown, one of those words is contained in your name.

Can you privide a list of the banned words?

Maybe its me, but this seems ridiculous.

It wouldn’t let me use ā€œa,rā€ when I tried emailing/pm’ing a member. It’s the opposite of professional. Makes no sense.

I would assume there’s an algorithm coded into the forums that looks for any combinations that can appear to be ā€œbannedā€ words. I have no idea what it could have seen ā€œa,rā€ as, so it probably needs some adjustment.

I simply tried to type ā€œcombustionā€ department, how could that be a problem? And I tried to the descriptor for tbe culture of the continent where France is located? Also prohibited.

And I wish I could figure out ā€œa,rā€ā€¦

I tried to post the following two words and was told they were banned.

C-a-n-a-d-i-a-n P-a-c-i-f-i-c

I guess we can only talk about U.S. Railroads. A sign of the times.

Seems this forum only wants topics about toy trains anymore.

I haven’t been having this problem.
Let’s see if it works, I’ll test some of the words/phrases/whatever you brought up.
ā€œC-a-n-a-d-i-a-nā€ and ā€œF-i-r-eā€ didn’t work.
I don’t get it. Let’s pester Firecrown!
Edit: I created a new topic in the Site Feedback category, here it is: Strangely Chosen Banned Words. Firecrown may be more likely to see it there.

Mind you do not all get banned. :upside_down_face:

Since Firecrown uses a commercial forum system, I’ll bet there’s some kind of coding problem that has cropped up in the program.

I got banned about 15 years ago, didn’t know why. About 8 months after I got banned I got around to emailing MRR and asked, it turned out they banned the wrong person. The violator just kept posting and never knew.

Sheldon–a-m-a-t-e-u-r.

Heck, I couldn’t even say st-pid as an adjective for an object. In a PM.
I couldn’t say the naughty version of heck.

I’m hoping someone just accidentally set this thing to preschool levels.

Thats weird, I’ve used that one before without issue.

It appears to be done this way:

In the ā€˜admin’ controls, go to admin-customize-watched words and use Block or Censor.

Whoever it is that has gotten in there to tinker – a grown-up needs to go back in and revert some of the silliness. (I would have said ā€˜a-d-u-l-t’ but that seems to be a forbidden concept here now…)

That or, as previously mentioned, print a list of ā€˜watched words’ and post it with the explanation.

We all say that and yet here we are still here.

I was gone for a long time. Only decided to try it out again when the new version launched - still in the probationary p…, another word you can’t say…

Same here. If it’s gonna be this kind of stupidity I’m outty.

So you can say stupidity but if you remove the ity at the end, it’s a no-no.
