Ya know, VISA and Mastercard have a policy that their cards cannot be charged until the day the items are shipped (I know - I used to sell mail order). Subscriptions are an exception - they can charge at the time the subscription is taken. So if your credit card is charged and the order isn’t shipped, I’d call the seller and complain about the charge, then call VISA or Mastercard and complain. They WILL make the seller mend their ways, or the card company will suspend the seller’s merchant account, which in mail order basically will freeze their business.
Seems like this vendor likes to play with someone else’s money. Maybe the outfit was founded by a banker. [;)] This credit card practice with attendant delays would cause one to speculate about their cash flow. JMHO

In my experience you will get your stuff (I don’t think they are out to cheat anyone), you just may not get it anywhere near as quickly as you would like, or thought you would. If I order from them, now that I understand this, I just forget about it until it gets here.
Goodmornin all!
I checked the status of my order - and it’s still “PROCESSING”. The guy told me yesterday it was there and should go out this week. If I don’t see that it went out by tomorrow or the beginning of next week - I’m calling my credit card company. [|(]
I wish that were totally true. In another hobby of mine (music) a company I used to buy from had a major update for their orchestral sample library. Problem was, they charged the credit cards of those who pre-ordered the update, but according to their website this was their policy. Several of us who questioned this practice were told we good take it or leave it. I’m not talking about just a few bucks. The are three different version of this library, one of which was About $250 US, the second $1000 (the one I ordered), and the third was $3000 (professional composer level). To top it off, the release date was delayed almost a full year. We were given the option to cancel the order and get the charges deleted from our credit cards, but in the meantime they had all our money earning interest for them.
I haven’t ordered from them since (that was 2 years ago), and I believe they still do busoiness that way.
Well guys - came to work this morning and checked my emails, and my order has been cancelled and I’m to receive a full refund. I’ll be watching my statement to make sure it’s applied.
Thanks for all your support and putting up with me crying on your shoulders!!
So, I’ll just give my hubby that money for the next train show he goes to. There aren’t many hobby shops around us. So he waits for the train shows.
Hey julz. Good post. I’m really getting an education from some of the replies here. Customer service is paramount to me, and I’ll spend a little extra for reliability every time. This internet retailer may not “need” your business, but hopefully the message gets to them that they are getting shilaqued here, and maybe step up there efforts. I personally find their practice of charging your card prior to delivering the goods suspect.
Now, on the helpful side. I noticed 3 things on your pictures. First, your husband really has put a lot of time and effort into his pike. It really looks good. Second, his layout is in a basement that appears to have occasional water “happenings” (as does mine). Instead of wood blocks on the floor, get some 4 x 4 castings; the kind they secure to pressure treated posts for decks. They are inexpensive, and help keep those wooden legs dry. Third, it’s kinda dark down there. My charming wife had six single tubed flourescent lights professionally installed this past father’s day, and the results were fabulous…and it sure beat a necktie…[swg]
Thanks fifedog! I’ll pass the info to him. Maybe this weekend I’ll get him online and check out this site. It’s awesome.
and yes - our basement does leak when it rains. So that’s a great idea!!
If the walls are concrete or cinder block and the water seeps though then you can paint them with a product called drylock and get rid of most of the problem.
