Do you see your membership going up or down over the last ten years?
And are you DC or DCC?
I’m trying to see if there is a trend.

Our club is 3 years old. Membership started at 6 members, and is now 10 members.
The layout was built for DCC operation only.

Up from 3 to 21. Layout can be operated either way, though few members still own anything that runs on DC power.
At one club we stayed the same over the last 2 years-Both layouts are DC.
At the other HO club we saw growth in membership over the last 12 years…
Our layout is DCC/DC and 70% of the time its operated in the DC mode. That’s right the DC mode…The reason being the majority of the members still want to use their old brass steamers from the 50/60s as well as older diesels such as Hobbytown and some brass howlers from the 60s.
Another reason is the noise makers everybody thought so so cool turn out to be our worst nightmare.
At the N Scale club–we are only 3 years old but, still seen some membership growth…DC layout…
Our club has been around since 1938, and when we moved in 1998, our membership was just under 50. Now, our membership is just over 60. I’m sure a lot of that is due to our new building.
We also switched to DCC in 1999, and we’re over 750 DCC installations at this point. There is no interest in DC analog mode for anything but the trolley section (which we may or may not actually build) and perhaps a display for the kiddies.

Membership is going up fast. We are DC only. The older members WILL NOT convert to DCC.
The permanent layout club has fluctuated between 8 and 20 over the past 10 years. That layout is DCC.
I’m also in a modular club, and that layout is DC/DCC. We’ve stayed pretty steady there with about 8 of us.
Our club is steady at about 12 to 15 members in the 7 or 8 years since we started it. However, there is only about 7 of us that do the work and keep trains running. Our large HO layout is both DCC and DC depending on what trains we run. We have G scale DCC double main lines running around the ceiling and a table layout in G. Ceiling is DCC and table can run both DCC or DC. We have a Lionel or O gauge 3rail double track layout as will. Our layouts are in the warehouse part of an old depot we restored and our railroad museum takes up the other parts of the depot. Ken
Our club is 54 years old and has been growing steadily. In 2006 there were 73 members, in 2007 107 members and this year we have grown to 138. We have a small HO layout in DCC as well as another on display at our railroad museum that is DC. I also belong to another club with a membership of about 30, I believe. This club has a large HO layout in DCC and DC as well as a large N scale in DCC and an O scale layout. Not sure of that one.
My club is around 18 years old now. It went from DC to DCC around 7 years ago and we use Digitrax equipment. We have had a high of 12 members and as low as 5 members over the last 3 years. We are now up to 9 members, we just picked up a few recently and had a past member pass away a few weeks ago. We have a nice HO scale layout we take to around 6 shows a year. We are presently starting to build a N scale layout roughly the same size as our HO scale layout so we can have an option of what we take to shows.
The club I belong to is over 50 years old. Our membership hovers around the 30 mark, with a core group of 8-10 that comes out regularly. There really hsn’t been a drop or gain in numbers, just in participation. We have more participation from the membership lately, partly due to being winter and the the fact we hire out lawn and snow removal so members do not have to do it anymore.
We are a DCC club now using NCE.

I belong to an N-Trak club.
It’s been around since 1993 and started with 4 members. The current membership roster I have shows 26 members and only one of those was in that original 4.
WE have a modukar layout that allows the person running ona particlar line to decide whether he wants DC or DCC so I guess we do both. At shows we usually only have one of the available 4 tracks on DCC but I’ve seen folks run DCC on all four tracks then too.
As for new members, I’ve seena few since I joined. But what the futuree will bring depends on whther we can find a new club room after the end of February 2009 when ours disappears due to renovation of our current digs by the government.

The club will be 40 years old this year. The permanent layout is inside an old baggage car from the NH. Meetings are held in an old caboose thats coupled to the baggage car. The layout is DC but our module group is both DC and DCC but a lot /most run DCC.
Membership is around 20 and the dues have stayed the same for 6 years and talk of going down when we consolidate with the West Barnstable station.

the club i belong to is 44 years old. the active membership has been stable for the last 20 years, about the same number of new members join as those who moved away or passed on, although the membership is noticably older on average, not many new young members.
our layout is HO and we can operate either DC or Dynatrol/DCC, or any combination of the two using local block cabs
The club I belong to is an HO scale modular club and is about 12 years old. We have 1 “active” member (me) and 3 “inactive” members in good standing. We also have a handful of members who have no time and are WAY behind on dues. But the club seems to stay the same as far as member numbers goes.
