New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit) is planning a fun-filled historic rail weekend Sept. 30 through Oct. 1 in honor of their 40 years of service to the New Jersey community. To kick off the events, NJ Transit and The United Railroad Historical Society (URHS) of New Jersey are partnering to operate a special excursion train titled the “40th Anniversary Express”.

Riders can purchase a ticket to travel down memory lane on the Northe

Pity they couldn’t have used the U34CH for part of the excursion. (Or a certain pair of E8s… [:-^])

Is there any word yet on the cost?

Here’s the link

$83 coach - $400 first class.

Completely agree. But using “off line” equipment incurs complications not the least of which is the cost of inspections which would be passed on to Garden State taxpayers. There will always be someone pointing out “needless” expenses.

On the other hand, they note F40 4120 was part of the very last consist that performed the South Amboy engine change… so no complaints.
