Nope, they had their own design that was a pain to get running correctly. I got a whole fleet of them for my Boeing industry in Tulsa, OK.

Perhaps the early cars used MDC flatcars. When I compare my LBF aircraft parts car with my MDC flatcars, I see a remarkable resemblance. The (molded on) grabirons are in the exact size and in the same places. The stirups are identical. The “underframe” and all of the molded on brake lines, and location and appearence of all of the brake equipment are all identical.

You’ll have to forgive me if I laugh. LBF (Loads By Fred) got screwed over by Hubert? Heh. I guess then it’s only fair, considering what Fred Becker did with this list of his business failures: Engine Tender Hobbies, Front Range, McKean Models, Skylim, E&C Shops and now LBF.
Fred Becker has quite the negative reputation. For details, just go to Google’s newsgroup archive for rec.models.railroad and search for him. You’ll get more dirt on him then you can shake McKean centerbeam flat car at.

C’mon Paul, now you know that I love to “retool/ rework” those awful centerbeams to eventually end up making them fit together and actually work!
If he was going to borrow (don’t want to be sued) a design I wish he had done it to the kadee spiker, want one and refuse to pay the prices on ebay!

You have a lot to say about him but I don’t see what YOU! have personal reasions to be so happy to see a Man’s lively hood taken away when you need the money to pay the bill. Hubert’s took that from Mr Becker. I really like to know? I myself have hed a compeny come in and hand everyone a pink slip and say have a good life your job just went over sea’s and so is the Tech. This may not have happen to Mr Becker but I seen him make a Deal with the IRS to get the tooling and all from hawk and start from the ground up and try to do the right thing and see it all taken away. Hell the man had a Stroke over this. I don’t see how it can be very funny

P.s just for the record E&C shop was put into bankrupcy by the IRS Fred Theis did not pay the tax’s and when things where found out it was to late.

You have only 5 lousy posts on this forum, and all of them are defending your friend, Fred Becker. You are hardly unbiased here.
Personally, I couldn’t give two shakes of a rat’s tail about Fred Becker’s many business failures. I don’t think I’ve ever bought any of his products deliberately (When I was 15, I once bought a GP9 custom painted for New Haven that I found out years later was a Front Range model). I honestly don’t care about Fred (other than his health…I am sorry to hear about that) since I don’t know him from a hole in the wall…but I do care that more than one side of the story is told. Apparently, he’s hardly an innocent when it comes to the problems he’s had, according to sources on r.m.r. Just ask Bill Glass of the old E&B Valley company and what Fred did to him. Or ask his former employees who allegedly never got their back pay when Fred’s companies foundered. And so on.
So yes, I do find it ironic (and therefore amusing) that Fred, he who has allegedly screwed over many people over the years, allegedly got screwed instead. If that makes me a bad guy, so be it.

If you have a problem with this thread, then I recommend that you click on “Report Abuse” and tell Bergie. If he wants it gone, you won’t hear me argue as airing dirty laundry is never pleasant. But I can’t let the appearance that Fred Becker is some sort of innocent saint go unapposed when I’ve been told the opposite for years and years.

Who would I contact about a missing underframe for an LBF 50’ box car?
All I can say is paybacks a bitch and I’m a great believer in karma. Also I try to follow the pay it forward and random acts of kindness way of thinking and it dosn’t even have to cost you, case in point my wife and I went to the ice cream shop as we had buy one get one free coupons but the line was long so we desided to wait but give away the coupon for a free cone to some kids in line, made their day and we liked the feeling so much we gave them the sunday one also, felt better than the ice cream ever could, a day latter new coupons arived with the paper, KARMA!!!

but yet you get your info buy 3rd hand and beleave that what is said is true. I happen to know mr Becker and talk to him all the time. as for Mr glass and his dealing with Mr Becker he is up set over not getting paid that is under standble. But he also has his chance in the court of law to try to recover his funds and chose not to do this so now he feels like he was taken not true he could have spoken up and got paid and did not do so. That is not Mr Beckers falt it is his.
May be you should reflecked what is going on here and let it go if you can not get things right. there is a log of good will to be dun but also a lot of for giving as will. So if you have not been hurt personely by Mr becker I would ask that you stay out of the fight and take a hard look to what is going on

Right now I can not say when Hubert’s lock out every one at LBF and took over the plant it left a big hole in finding part for LBF. I am sorry but right now there is no part’s avable I will be talking to Mr becker later in the week and I will ask that question and see I am very sorry I can not be of any more help but for now LBF is dead

just a up date Mr Fed Hubert is going to be in a lot of trouble in a phone call this morning I found out that he has not paid any one in roseburg Or rent on the building or the Tax’s so 20 or so employee’s have not been paid since he took over the plant. Also on Monday on the city’s court house steps evry thing will go on sale so now I can say Mr Hurbert scammed every one just to kill LBF and but a lot of people out of work What a very said thing to do

don’t know how old you are, your spelling and grammar would indicate maybe 5th grade, but I am like a lot of other older modelers who would never touch anything marketed or produced by Fred Becker.
I would also appreciate knowing where you came up with this information you are posting about Huberts. I would remind you that there are laws against slander.

Wow, an insulting pastor (hopefully you’re really not one)! That’s why I don’t go to church or believe in that mumbo jumbo that is forced on people, hypocrisy. I agree the spelling is atrocious, but the root of that comment (5th grade level thing) was not intended as an educated guess.
Now a question: What do all you older modelers have against LBF or Fred Becker or whatever? I keep hearing negative things about this man. I don’t have a clue of who he is or was and really doesn’t affect me all that much. I would just like to understand why most of you don’t like him. As far as I know, the only beef I have with LBF, E&C or whatever, is the missing underframe for one of the box cars I have. I’m going to replace it with a details associates one anyway, but if possible, I’d like some input on my query though.

and check on what is being sold on the front steps on monday also I don’t do slander and I will stand by what I have said in the court of law on this one, because I know how the real person that killed LBF and stole every thing. So stick this in your up your behind and rotate And i can say that Fred Hubert’s is none thing but a lier he is the one that put out all the stuff about LBF and how he took over to save it Ya right! he did not every pay the wages of the employee’s that was working there or the rent all he did is rip it off.

Any chance you and/or your famous friend Mr. Becker can go to the courthouse steps on Monday and convince them that this stuff is indeed stolen property? I would think the authorities would want to know about the atrocities you speak of.
