Ritzcamera

Is this a good site to order a camera from? Any experiences?

Ritz, Wolf, Oregon Camera are all the same company. They are reputable but don’t let them talk you into anything you don’t need. They are not noted as being bait and switch or stripped box retailers so you can count on getting what you order. You might be able to match their prices locally at a big box store if you look around. If you live out in the sticks and are forced to use mail order ritz should be OK for you.

I have had a couple of good expereinces with Ritz… got a Pentax ZX-M. Nice camera.

…I had very good results with B&H in NYC…All done over internet.

Wolf is well known in SE Florida. My son bought his 35MM from them [:)]

Never a problem with B&H; I buy all my equipment and film from them. No experience with Ritz.

I don’t like Wolf/Ritz/whoever…Somtimes they have good prices, but generally they’re terrible. And customer service can be quite laughable. I went in asking when they were planning to have the EOS 350D in, and got a blank stare. When I asked about the Digital Rebel XT, the gent responded that they already had teh Rebel. It’s like PMA never occured.

Do yourself a favor, and shop at Adorama or B&H. Both are top notch pro shops in NY, and you’ll have to do some scouting to beat their pricing.

I used to work for Ritz a few years back, its where i met my wife to be! Most employees are knowledgable and will help you with whatever you need, (new camera, enlargements) They make good prints too. Its where i get my film developed. But dont go there for camera repairs, it can be expensive and it may take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month to get your camera back. Well at least that was the case when i worked there.

I have also had good experiences when I dealt with Adorama and B&H in New York. I have mostly bought kodachrome 200 film and Kodak Pk36 processors from them. I also bought a Kodak Carrousel slide projector from B&H, it arrived damaged so they sent me a return way bill to send it back. The replacement arrived before I had a chance to send it back.

Most recently I have only been able to get short dated Kodachrome film, 9 months before its expiration date. I used two rolls shortly after their expiration dates without any bad effects.
