Ross Capon to leave National Association of Railroad Passengers
Obviously, there exists a cretinous fleet of schreibers, writers who know not what they do.
One may argue that Mr. Capon and the NARP have had no measurable effect or influence upon the direction of rail passenger service during the past four decades, roughly paralleling the tenure of Amtrak, for reasons not difficult to find, namely the absence of both money and a constituency. And now, ironically, events and trends have rendered NARP, essentially moribund at present, irrelevant as well.
If an Oscar is awarded for persistence with impatience and distrust of IT, We know whose name is in the envelope.
Of course when I multiple entries, blame my fat and fumbling fingers…
Ross Capon leaves his mark. He has endured many ups and downs in passenger rail travel and always come through.
We will miss his leadership.

We have a fleet of new Viewliners that need names. How about “The Ross Capon” on one and “The Jack Martin” on another?!
Ross did a great job and I hope he continues his outstanding rail advocacy for many years to come.
Good Fortune was my traveling karma the day my roomette
was across from Ross Capons’. My good foutune was to meet and converse with this dedicated advocate of rail travel.
My recollection was a realist knowing that rail
need to be a part of the options for integrated travel.
I left the Texas Eagle with renewed hope.
Thank you Mr Capon
5 STARS FOR ROSS CAPON
Other than NARPs continuing reference to “Global Warming”, I, as a long-time member support the outfit, and will continue to do so, I thnk. I hope the next leader doesn’t have facial hair. That disturbs me.
Where did you get your disinformation, Austin F Larson, Faux Noise?
Perhaps NARP will move its passenger train advocacy policy from the 1950’s into the 21st Century.
As a long time member of NARP, I’m sorry to see Ross go. He and Jack Martin did yeomen work to keep people and the politians in the know about Amtrak. I agree 1000% that Amtrak name two Viewliners for both Ross and Jack Martin. Ross, remember, take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but foot prints. Good luck and I’m looking forward to the book!
