Saturday, April 12th there will be a show at the county fairgrounds in Peru, Indiana. This is usually a very good show.

On July 5-6, Deshler, Nebraska, has a nice small train show sponsored by Spring Creek Model Trains. Even though it’s small, there are a lot nice displays and vendor tables. Spring Creek Model Trains store also has extended hours.

It’s about an hour south of Interstate 80, or about ten minutes west of U.S. Hwy 81.

The Spring Creek people are the nicest people to work with.

A little short notice, but this Sunday, March 23 from 10AM-4PM will be the Kingston Model Train Show in Kingston NY at 467 Broadway. Admission is $8 for adults and $2 for children. Its a fairly small show, but there’s some interesting layouts usually there, as well as okay vendors.

5th & 6th April sees a Model Railway Exhibition at ā€˜Locomotion’, Shildon, Co. Durham, UK. Saturday for me.

Locomotion is a smaller version of the National Railway Museum in York and this year it is part of the ā€˜S&DR200 Festival’, which marks 200 years since the Stockton and Darlington Railway, became the world’s first public railway to use Steam Locomotives.

It connected Collieries near Shildon, with Darlington and Stockton - revolutionizing the transportation of Coal and Passengers.

The Ex. is usually a smaller one, since the Trader’s Stalls and Exhibits have to be squeezed in between the Full-size Exhibits.

There is not much chance of a North American Layout there, but I will post a few photos of anything special.
Paul.

ā€˜Locomotion’ M.R Exhibition is a busy one. Been there previously. With the new exhibition hall a great venue.

Unfortunately I shall not be there. I shall be in Leeds for a journey on the Settle Carlisle line.

Hi David, I missed last Autumn’s Ex. due to a Fractured Rib a couple of days earlier, so I am looking forward to seeing the new Exhibition Hall as well.

See if you can grab a photo(s) of Ingleborough and Wild Boar Fell, from the Train. Paul.

At the Mid-Michigan Train Show yesterday I bought a Lionel 2344 NYC F-3. I had been looking for one for a while, and this was the first one that was in fairly good shape and reasonably priced (smaller train shows seem to have better prices.) I was concerned that it ran poorly on the shows test track with a beginner set transformer, but once I got it home on my own tracks with good transformer, it ran great. Pretty good for a 75 year old loco.

The next day I walked into my ā€œlocalā€ (about an hour away) hobby shop, and he had the exact same NYC loco as my above post, and it not only was in better shape, but cost $25 less. There was no paint flaking off the bottom metal frame as in the above photo. Oh well, I’ll just console myself that I don’t have to weather the loco, as if I would have considered that anyway.

Been wanting one of those NYCs, but haven’t found a set within my price bracket yet. I’m sure, given enough time and patience, I’ll find one eventually. Not too particular about if I end up with the 2344 or the 2354, as long as it has magnetraction.

Just purchased the Kato n scale Big Boy with sound from Spring Creek. Great company, great people, and great prices. It is good to see they are giving back to the community. Ron

A poster, Matt Wilson, had posted a notice of an upcoming train show in last years thread on Small Train Shows, so I took a screenshot and reposted it on this years thread.

Went to a small show in Kingston last weekend, Was able to sell a couple locomotive from my Dad’s collection. There were some decent deals to be had. Does anyone know how I can find out about other train shows in my area? I don’t live that far from Kingston, NY.

Hey, I probably saw you there! I was helping out at the NMRA Booth and ran a train on the Newburgh club layout! 2 in the area I know of are the Poughkeepsie Train Show, which is at the beginning of November, and the Great Train Extravaganza in Albany at the beginning of December. Not sure of any others in the area between, there may be some but I don’t know.

Probably did see you. I was selling at a table next to the bathroom.

Not a train show per se but an open house fun run!

We’ll be running layouts from N Gauge up to Standard Gauge so if you live in the greater Richmond VA area feel free to stop by, we’d love to see you!
