Started running an old Marx 666 on this yesterday. Going to add foam board to model the mountains etc. over the next week. 4ft x 4ft with a suicidal climb, 2 S curves, 0-27 curves at the top and bottom of the climb. All the “mistakes” a person could want in a layout!!!
iii - If all you are running is MARX tinplate and similar sized trains, I see no problem with it. I’d even lower the upper deck another inch just to take it easy on the motive power. Looks like a fun little layout.
Thanks for sharing your track plan and layout! Great idea for a small space! Please keep us posted as you continue to work on it. As long as your equipment runs on it, there are no mistakes! Take care, Joe.
Those tiny layouts also can be big fun! I made one on a 3x6 foot base with a figure 8, but the tracks cross under and over. Even a simple K-line with truck mounted dc motors can climb the very steep grades with 2 cars on the hook…
If you use green carpetry around the grade, derailing won’t give any damage, since the carpet catches the train coming of the track… Nice layout!
Thanks,
Planning on getting the Cascade Valley Docksider set to run on it; might switch thigns up with some small ore cars or even baby madisons from Ready Made Trains.
