Smart Media cards

Anybody know where I can get any of these, cheap?

Every place I see them online wants $50+ for them and I can’t afford that right now.

What do they plug into?

I need them for an Olympus D550 camera.

Did you try Wally World? My brother just got a 1 gig for about $35. I don’t know if it was the same type as you need, but it looks like it.

Don’t ever order online from a place called Stargate Photo. REAL bad reputation. (The Internet Trains of the photo biz.)

Already checked Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Radio Shack. They don’t have them. The ones that Wal-Mart has are the SD cards. They’re smaller than the one I need.

That’s the bad thing about memory. The new stuffs pretty cheap but you pay through the nose for the older types. I don’t know if Kodak makes that type of memoery, but I just saw some deals on their site where you can get a package deal with a memory card, tripod, battery charger and camera case for less than other sites wanted just for the memory. Might be something to check out.

Just looked at that. That’s one of the new SD cards. This pic will show you the difference.

The newer SD card is on the right.

Wow! They don’t have them at Mall Wart?!? Jeffrey, you can try Best Buy or any of the electronic superstores that may be in your area.

And, unless you plan on only storing your photos on your SM card, you don’t necessarily have to purchase a huge one either. I bought a 512MB SM card back in May for $17. They’re like computers: The more MBs of storage; the higher the cost.

Sorry, Jeffrey. I just now realize that you are looking for the older SM card. You might try J&R Music World on the web.

The cheapest that I have been able to find a 128MB SmartMedia card is $43.50 + $8.95 shipping on ebay:

If you can operate your camera with the door over the card open, there is an adapter available that will let you use an xD-Picture Card instead of the SmartMedia card; however, the adapter sticks out from the camera and may be in the way. Here is one source for the adapter and an included 128MB xd-Picture card for $24.98 + $9.98 shipping:

Unfortunately, it won’t operate with the card slot door open.

what memory size do you need? I think I have a few of those size ones, they were for my Olympus camera, they are 2 twice the size of the new SD cards, and very hard to locate

I’m surprised at that, usually the door is nothing more than a door, and the camera doesn’t care whether or not it’s open…

Any computer shows coming up in your area? I can’t speak for all of them, but ours are kind of general flea-markets for All Things Digital. For example, it’s the cheapest place to get a replacement cell-phone charger, or one for your car. Items like Cat-5 cable sell for their true value, not the bloated prices you see at CompUSA or Radio $hack.

The size doesn’t matter, as long as it’s a SmartMedia card. I’ll take any size I can get.

For SD flash memory cards from $9.99, just follow this Tiny URL link to Tiger Direct.

Or, you can try Zip Zoom Fly, they offer free shipping.

Those are very good, but I’m not looking for SD cards. I can get those at Wal-Mart. I’m trying to get SDSM cards, which aren’t made anymore.

Try Amazon.com
