I need two auto-reversers that will work with different DCC systems becuase I will start with a Digitrax Zephyr and move to TCS in a year or two. Recommendations?
most auto-reversers work with DCC, any DCC system.

Hello All,
My question is why switch DCC systems?
I’m not a fan of the Digitrax DCC systems, although I do use their non-sound and sound decoders in the bulk of my fleet.
Why not go with TCS right off the bat?
For my first DCC system, I bought the dead-end Bachmann Dynamis system. I quickly maxed out its capabilities.
I switched to NCE for the ergonomics of the throttles, wireless capabilities, expandability and how the system makes and breaks consists.
As far as auto reversers most will work with any DCC system.
For an inexpensive, simple-to-use, check out the MRC brand AD520 AUTO REVERSER.
This can be found much cheaper than listed on their website.
Hope this helps.
I have an old Zephyr that I will use in phase 1 of a 3 phase project. When I expand I will need boosters and integrate LCC more completely. At this point, TCS seems the best choice for LCC but things might change in the coming months/years as my layout expands.
Hello All,
Thank you for the clarification.
The MRC AD520 will work and is a simple relay type. It can be found cheaper than the MSRP.
I looked at the TCS website and didn’t find an auto-reversing unit manufactured by them.
Since switching to NCE I use the AR10 Auto Reverser with a built-in circuit breaker.
Yes, it is more expensive than other AR units but it does include a circuit breaker.
Check out this thread…
Are you looking at incorporating the auto-reversing units into the LCC system?
If so, you might want to look at ESU.
Some Digitrax booster/command stations include auto-reversing capabilities, but these need to be isolated as a completely separate power district.
Keep the questions and answers coming!
And as always…
Hope this helps.
most auto-reversers are just more sophisticated circuit breakers
