Halloween has come to the Musuem Tin Plate Layout
Awww, my first Sunday Photo fun in awhile!!!
Progress of my new layout, with some of my new accesorie additions, my 97 coal loader (which i have repainted and refurbished)…
F-3 pair I cleaned up for a guy…
Runs perfect!
Nice clean trucks!!
Nice photos, Jerry, Tom.
Tearing apart my Lionel construction engine. Goal is to make 2 switcher locomotives from each truck.
Also, working outside.
I got the rain gutter cut off my concrete today and used the post for a bridge support (cosmetic support). Thanks for tips on separating the plastic drain from the concrete on last week’s photo fun. Only took one razor slice and the drain gutter pulled off the concrete. I can reuse it again, which I’m about to do now.
There’s a horrific grade behind some track I’ve been laying. So, I made some steps using native rocks, which I captured. No more slipping down the hill for me.
Here’s the Lionel torn apart with my fabricated DPDT switch for making it go forward, neutral and reverse. Believe it or not, the Lionel locomotive came from the factory with only forward!!!

Hi Jerry… Great pics.
Tom… I like your Halloween settings.
Here is the wall that I am working on. I’m standing on the Hill outside of the town of Blueberry. In the lower left corner, is where the Budd cars will come back out on the new extension. They will travel around the front of the room and join the upper track at wooden retaining wall.
Nice pictures everyone !! Good to see Chucks new section of work in progress !! Here is some of my new addition to “Eagleville”, with MTH trestles & Marx bridge over the road, which incidentally, Buckeye suggested putting in when he was here !! I never would have thought of it, but I really like it !! The train crew likes to sit there waiting for a signal & wathing the car show at Mc Donalds !! [(-D][(-D]
Thanks, John
Here’s progress on the layout - first the new locomotive and cars I bought:
Next, the foamboard covered in brown flannel and track finally put together:
Note - I was testing my wiring with a handcar. I bought a K-Line set last year that came with a very basic transformer, so that’s what I put on there. I have two Cw80s packed in the basement behind construction stuff, but I ordered a MTH Z-1000 and I’m waiting for it. I could get to the K-Line stuff, so I used it. The transformer didn’t have the posts labeled, so I tried it out on the handcar first to make sure I did it right.
Lastly, the new Docksider makes a run:

WARNING - ALIENS SPOTTED
There has been considerable discussion lately about the electronics inside the engines. Well here is an old engine that has TMCC installed w/o Railrounds or Cruise. As you can see the electronics is not very big. All the connections were done with wire nuts. Double sided tape is used to attach to the frame. As always, click to enlarge.
Here is the same engine with its shell in place.
And some good new for Roger’s Corners, they are considering bring Amtrak back to Central Ohio.
The Ohio Central is still going strong in Roger’s Corners.
John and Tom, What materials are you using for your streets and roads? John, I’m glad you liked the elevated tracks going through town.
Good photos again this Sunday. These photos have given me ideas for my layout for the last two years and it makes this forum great.
See ya down the tracks,
I really like those pictures Buckeye.
Here are some pictures of my largest York purchase.
Williams scale size GG-1. It runs on 042 which is why I bought it, but I had to move a barn, station and water tank as it has a lot of overhang on the outside. You need 2-5/8" from the center rail out. It clears the backdrop wall by about 1/16". This is on the one end of the dogbone with 042, the other end is 054 so should not be a problem.
Tom, What are the roads on the tinplate layout made of?
John, How did you make the blacktop road?
Nice bunch of pictures guys.
Who says I don’t like Post War!!!
My new old 2065 I bought from Miss Edna. From her late husband’s private collection.
Look at the headlight beam in the picture [never seen that before].
and she smokes after I worked on her smoke unit and a little modifying.
Notice the Post War Consist.

WOOO WOOO [:D]
Chief - you R-O-C-K!
proud of ya son. [:D]
And Chief has STILL not left the floor yet!!! [:O][8D]Thats ok with me, looks like the artificial coal is making one heck of a nice roadbed on the carpet!
he just got himself a “Get out of Jail free” card for carpett running with those post war shots.
Here are a few pics from what we picked up at York. As many of you know I would like to do a big mountain lumber scene on the next build and of course I’ve always wanted the Climax loco but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend that kind of money. On Thursday in the purple hall at Just Trains we pretty much blew the budget, I found the Climax at a good price and then my wife asked if they had the MTH Shay, they weren’t sure but Kirk who was standing next to me said sure and he said what road name? It was on their sale sheet and at that point my normally aggressive wife jumped in and said how much better can you do? I about fell over, we ended up with both loco’s! She’s horrible to salesmen in a nice way, it’s that way when we buy a car, I’ll find the one we want and then have her deal on it (after researching through Consumer Reports), it’s hilarious—I just stay out of the way.
I need to take her along more often!
Jon
The Shay
The Climax
and this was her favorite purchase!
We entered the loco’s this morning after oiling everything and they worked perfectly, I think Christmas arrived early in Adel. What a FUN week.
Jon : those are really nice engines !! You have a great wife also !! I don’t know if they make a Heisler or not … !!
Can’t wait to see your logging scene on the new layout !!
Thanks for sharing !!
John
I had a starter set with O-27 track and my nephew took an interest so we went to the train store and bought some FasTrack. Lots of fun.
I included a layout drawing if anyone is interested. Almost 49 feet of main line action.
Cool pics guys - esp like the aliens and shays!
