Scenery is slowly coming around to the Fort Mulligan section on the layout. The Fort was constructed in 1863 in Petersburg, WV. No major battles were fought there, but it is one of the best preserved earthworks fort in existence.
No reinventing the wheel here, just tried and true plaster cloth on cardboard strips.
The two humps in the middle of the grounds are bomb-proofs.
The current Fort has a recreated “winter hut” on site. I started with an old Plasticville log cabin, which to me, has a big footprint for an early American log cabin. I omitted two walls, and cut the back side of the roof in half, to give me a bit more landscape. I painted on chinking (sp?), and dry brushed some tones of tan and brown. It visually shrunk the cabin, and it looks good in the background now. Still left to go is foresting and foliage of the area.
