The Coffee Shop (a place to chat) Est. 2004

Good morning all:

Well it’s off to work today.

The painting is done for now and the airbrush is all cleaned up and put away

I think that this was a good post - I’m envious of him too!

John:
Thanks for the show information, San Antonio is only 300 miles from here.

Moah:
If you put a reed switch in the track it’ll work all kinds of things.

I agree if the speakers are to loud you can’t stand it - that’s why they are turned way down.

Ken:
Are the four turnouts curved? When I found out that curved turnouts didn’t fit the centerlines I had to relay the whole entrance to my staging tracks.

To fill the gaps in the roadbed use scotch tape, all you want to do is cover the gap to feep the ballast from falling through.

Morning!

Need coffee, need it now, got to wake up!

Little sleep last night has me wanting to take a nap already.

Continued work on my garage structure, I got the walls attached and the put on two coats of paint, one a flat black, and the second a coat of red primer. Tonight another coat of the red primer and then I’m going to try the flour for mortar effect.

Built the cabinet for the new bathroom, it is going to replace the old medicine cabinet I pulled out during the demolition stage of the renovation. Sanded the cabinet and put on three coats of stain, going to varnish it tonight and install into the wall tomorrow.

Ed,
How true! Next year my son and I will advance from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, and every time my wife and I have a conversation about campouts all she can say is “Make sure you set up your tent in an open field, and look up and all around you.” Seriously, Boy Scouts is great fun!!! Be Prepared!

Adam,
You have a great time, mountain men is a great program. Maybe you can get the blacksmith to show you how to make a railroad spike!!

David,
Some day I want to visit the Link Museum, I am a big fan of his work. I have a copy of the “Hotshot” hanging in my office. He was a master railroad photographer; sorry he passed away a few years ago.

Teffy, Reed Switches are something I’m debating on using on my module, to operate crossing lights or something.

Well, I think I’ll take a piece of coconut cream pie and a banana milk shake. I got more time today. I got my module painted yesterday, in an attempt to keep the wood from warping. Now I can go ahead and finish laying the rest of the track. I’ve got my design all planned out, now I just need to see if it will actually work in reality, but it should as I designed it with a program instead of with my hand and paper like I usually do when things don’t work.

Well, I think I’ll get going then. I’ll see you all later.
Noah

Well, I just finished filling out my applications. Eight applications took me about an hour and a half. And now my head hurts…ow ow ow. Hopefully, I can turn them in tomorrow, or later today, that would be nice.

Makes the wild wild west look like Disney World! Some of you won’t believe this, to others it would be a NRA dream come true, but the few times I took the Workboat into the dock in Iqaluit there would be several freighter canoes, with cuddy (small cabin), tide up loading the family up for an outing. One Daddy, One Mommy, five kids from the ages of 7 up and eight or nine guns of varying calibres lying on the cuddy. One for each family member! It’s a different world up there; crazy thing is it doesn’t even faze me anymore. gun=shoppong cart

As far as getting caught up I’m a week away. If I haven’t responded to some of you guys it’s because I’m still in wind down mode and haven’t quite settled in as of yet.

Bill: Reference the animal in the last shot… I got my ears lowered yesterday I’ve once again become domesticated[:D]

Train Collector: I still haven’t posted on webshots but will let you know when I do.

Phil and Bob: These cruises are not without there pitfalls such as waking up at 5 thirty in the morning, disgruntled employees, No Misses to cuddle up to, etc, etc etc… Saying that I have to admit I get to see places that others seldom if ever see.

Anyway time to move the sprinkler

Later gents

Fergie

Yup. It’s a Far Side. Around the 4th of July someone posted that a fireworks factory had an explosian.[:0] I immediately thought of that cartoon thinking, “I bet that’s what caused the explosian. I wonder if I should post it?” I eventually decided against posting it as a reply to that post.

I cleaned the wheels on my Bachmann F9 a few days ago. Nothing special, just a light cleaning. Somehow, it was enought to bend an axle or get a wheel crooked.[:0][:(!] Now I can’t run it until I get around to fixing it. Well, I can run it, but it’s really jerky. This is the rare original 8 wheel drive one too, so I want it running as well as possible.

Good Day All,

Fergie: Now, I totally confused. [%-)][%-)][%-)] I thought the Government, banned all the guns in that part of the world. I’m not trying to be a wise guy, I’m just surprised to hear that. Hey, God bless them, and the NRA.[C):-)]

Catch you guys later,
Bill North

DARTH: Will you be quoting from Weird Al’s “Amish Paradise?” That is one of his best songs. And the music video for it makes it even better.[:D]

Well we just got home from our trip to the greater Milwaukee area. We made it to Duplainville alright. We were sitting on a side road by the CP tracks last night and the vehicle started to kick into overdrive kind of, fan started going so my dad says we need to drive around. We turn into a old church on Duplainville Rd. and hear the whistle. This was about a minute after we left the tracks. So we go back and catch the tail end of the train. Then we hear another whistle, this time it was a CN train on the other tracks, to far to get any good pictures. I did get two semi decent shots of different cars on the CP train but that’s it.

Anyways, that was all for the trains. The games were awesome. I’ll give more detail later. I need to get to the post office to send out my money order.

UP John- its a widecab SD40-2, CN has or had no widecab SD38’s and they only have four spartan cab SD38-2’s from Northern Alberta railway, GTW had a few ex DT&I SD38-2’s as well but those are all gone.

Afternoon all

Bill N

They aren’t as much fun as 2 wheels but where you are at they are like the second car at times.

Trent Being shot at is not any fun and glad you’re ok and will check out the web site.

Inch Sounds like you will have someone running all over the place in a couple days. GOOD LUCK

TrainsRme Not bad at all when the CFO can do that. Way to go Mrs TrainsRMe [^][8D][:)][tup]

Ken

Right now it is a thought but after seeing the pics that I think Attaboy posted it looks like the plane show every year that the Toledo Weak Signals put on in Toledo,Oh. Do you know if they would have any of the little scooters for the people that can’t walk that long because if they do then I might be able to get my friend Jack to go. Oh yeah, think we would have to twist Atttaboy’s arm very hard to join us???

Well that’s about it and Inch have one on me as I am on my way out.
Talk to you later

Duke

Today IM BUYING!!!
ill take a soft serve vanilla ice cream

Bill, thnx, but im set on squirrels and chippys (including my 2nd nephew!-as in second cousin)[:D]

Ken, im packing them up because of a move, yes.
btw, that plan should be a lot of fun!
are the steel mills a representation of any prototype mills?

Scott, good luck with the aps!

Ken

I’ve never have had problems with VA. state troopers its PA. (where from that I always did LOL. When I was stationed at little creek use to go out to pembrook mall and eat and drink at a resturant/bar there and we had a VA. state that on his off days sit and drink with us when he was on duty he would follow us home and if anyothers would come around he would pull us till they left . He was a true drinking buddy lol

But I don’t drink anymore or live that area and I’m talking about 22- 24 years ago.

Maryland police along 13 were the ones everyone I knew feared as they would come out of a steep imbankment somehow and get you .

trainsRme

Man you better hide her someone will try to take a wife that fine and great. Thats one in a billion.

Some guys have all the luck!!!

With that I’m out of here for a while see ya all later

RT

Evening all…Chloe, I sure could use a cold glass of water please. Mighty quiet in the coffee shop tonight.

Ken - I wished I’d had my camera Saturday, I was down town and I seen two Norfolk Southern and two Conrail engines running together pulling a long freight. You don’t see that to often around here. I’ve also seen UP and NS together. BTW I think tomorrow I’m going to order a N scale SD70MAC Conrail [ Kato ] got to have one! Better go for now.

Everyone have a great evening.

Stan.

Hello All [:)]

I am doing a terrible job of keeping up with all that is going on both here and elsewhere. [:(]

So I am missing a lot of what is going on here in the shop. [V]

It is nice to see Shaun from Canada post some. [V] I am seeing at least one CN unit a day here in town. I have not got to hostle one yet but sooner or later I will.

Today I hostled a unit with Epic Air. Epic Air was an alternative to the 26L brake. It is really strange but does stop a loco.

I hope all is well with our club members. [:)]

Email me if I am missing something big. [:)]

Thanks.

Noah:

That’s what I’ve always wondered about the handheld for that system. I figure that one would need a designated sounder to work that while you ran the trains![(-D]

The lad is nothing short of brilliant gang![tup][bow][^] Infra red sensors should do the trick as they are not fussed about ambient light blinding the receptor. The whole thing could be set up to be automatic. Now our Sony mini stereo CD/tape player has handed in its dinner pail (power source died over the weekend) I’m 2 more very nice compact speakers in cases to the good. [sigh][banghead]

Yoshi (belated welcome BTW ) as you see, Noah’s idea is optics, and I have to agree with him because going DCC is partly about getting rid of electrical switches for blocks (well for me it is a HUGE part), so optics do an end run around the threat of more switches.

Sorry about your rain, but this has been the first fine long weekend this year, and we have really enjoyed it. Showers tonight, they say.

RT:

Sounds like my mom. Never did drive. Had quite enough with my dad I expect as he learned to drive on an Australian sheep station, and drove as if there were no boundaries to the roads! Could be scary. Good thing we couldn’t afford a car[swg]
(Post war England, Anglican priest in a non-parish ministry, go figure.)

Darth (and CNshaun too): On the signature picture [^][(-D]
UKSteve: Too odd – is that Rosencrantz & Gildenstern ? and if so, before or after?[(-D]

Just Me,

Fergie:

Don’t become too domesticated, they’ll expect it from you all the time. LOL[:D]

Duke:

Man, there’s nothing like taking a slow cruise on fresh snow, down a road in the woods, when the ice is shining on every branch of the trees. It’s like riding through a chrystal palace. If you see a couple deer, and no wind, it’s like you have one foot in heavens door. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy two wheeling, but theres a season for all of it. That’s why I love this state, It’s got it all.

Well, I’m going to cut it short tonight.
Bill North

Not quite to the door yet,

trainsRme:

Please tell your wife, that I think I just fell in love!!! [:P][;)] That’s my kind of girl!!!

Later,
Bill North

## HEY, IT’S MY TURN. SET UM UP LADIES, IT’S PARTY TIME!!!
