THE FLAT WHEEL CAFE/DINER JULY VERSION

Randy, I can imagine the costs of some of these “upgrades” must be tremendous.

And the extra length is something I’ve wondered about…Such as maneuvering a rig with a tractor having an extremely long WB.

Good afternoon, you all. Been taking kind of a lazy afternoon, after getting Sunday Dinner going in the Crock Pot. It will be ready in about and hour, hour and a half: beef roast, w/taters & carrots. I’ve also mixed up some homemade dinner rolls, and they will go into the oven, just about the time the roast is ready. Also on tonight’s menu: broccoli, green beans, corn, garden salad, cole slaw, fresh from the vine ripe tomatoes.

We’ve got a very nice, comfortable sunny day, with temps in the low to mid 80s (I think, haven’t really paid any attention to the thermometer outside).

You all take care, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening.

Evening all.

I just got a Facebook. I can’t figure it out.

CW, supper is good. THX![dinner] Our family reunion was good. Had fun, and a band played the Wabash Cannon Ball![{(-_-)}] WOO HOO! Well, off to see what other things on the forums might interest me.[:P]

PS, Did any of you watch the program on the Discovery Channel on Walter Cronkite? I thought it was a good program

Looks like I have a HUGE supper too eat! No one has even touched it!

Good Monday morning, you all. Looks like another beautiful day for us here in Louisville, although it’s to be a bit warmer than it has been: predicted high today is 88 degrees. Possibility of more rain coming in sometime late tomorrow, continuing thru Friday.

Coffee, juices, iced teas and hot water for tea are all ready and waitin’ for everyone.

The regular breakfast menu of bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy are on the warmer bar.

You all have a very good morning, and talk with you later on.

Goom Mawning… 75 and overcast again in Carolina and calling for lightning later today. I had relatively good weekend. We got some shopping done and the pantry is stocked for a while, anyway. The wife has got the miseries and can’t handle even a mild day’s temps. It causes breathing problems, which concern me a lot! I hope her next quack visit will shed some light on this. Everybody take care

good morning

matt and mamma are eating breakfast.we are ready to head back to NW ohio.had quite a few rainshowers pass over yesterday. We spent the day at Port Huron Michigan at the St.Clair river tunnel. After we get home and unpack we are going to go see a tree in deshler.

stay safe

Joe

I have never seen a tree or Deshler. Bet there will be pictures!

Have a line of showers sneaking up on us and then disappearing when they get close. We can’t talk rain out of anyone this time of year.

CW - I found some steaks we need to use up - how about an old fashioned steak fry for tonite? Even Winter will get a bone.

You’ve got it, Mookie, so here’s the menu for the rest of the day:

Fried steak w/mashed taters & your choice of: brown gravy or white (milk) gravy, green beans, sliced carrots, lima beans, green beans, homemade applesauce w/cinnamon, homemade biscuits, cornbread.

And for dessert, your choice of yellow cake w/chocolate icing, fudge brownies, blueberry cobbler or strawberry cobbler w/ice cream.

Evening.

Steak sounds good! Thanks CW!

Well, a pretty normal day today. Joe, if you could, check your e-mail when you get time!

Thanks!

Justin

Running commentary in the lounge. Sitting in the shelter at Deshler with Joe, Matt and Mama, along with some other local fans. I’ll get pictures up later.

stay safe

joe

BLT sounds like a winner. Looking a little grey off to the west - I’ll get everything buttoned down.

Joe, Larry, and everyone else, the BLTs sound like a great idea. To go along with them, you can have: fries, tater wedges, chips, along with a nice, fresh garden salad.

Dessert today: strawberry shortcakes.

Tuesday Produce went pretty well this morning. The truck showed up about 9:45, and we had 61 people (12 of those were myself and the helpers who help unload the truck and hand out the food). Not bad, considering it kept looking like it would start raining any time. So far, we’ve not gotten any rain, and the sun is now shining. Think the rain will probably hold off until around 4, 5:00 this afternoon.

Everyone have a great afternoon, and take care!

…It finally hit 90 degrees again here this afternoon…but the humidity being relatively low, makes it almost a non issue.

A mostly sunny day.

good morning

rained all night last night at work so its nice and muggy outside right now.First night back at work is always the hardest.Time for a nap.We do have some cinnamon rolls and juice ready to go as well.

stay safe

joe

Good morning! It looks like I’m the first one in here this morning, although Paula might be lurking just around the corner…for breakfast this morning we’ve got blueberry pancakes, waffles, french toast, all with hot, maple syrup, scrambled eggs, bacon and pork sausage links. Plus there is plenty of freshly brewed coffee and I’ve mixed a fresh batch of orange juice.[C=:-)]

It’s a cool morning here in my hometown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, 50 degrees here, but we have a 60% chance of developing a thunderstorm. I think I heard some thunder off in the distance a little while ago.

I hope the rest of you out there all have a very good day!

Ray ooo ooo ooOOOOOo

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. Joe and Ray, thank you to both of you for fixing breakfast this morning!

As of right now, we have cloudy skies. When I awoke earlier, we were getting a light rain; then, about the time I would have been booting up the computer, we had a thundershower come through. When I took the dog out, I looked at the rain gauge on the way back in. Overnight and this morning, we had just over an inch of rain in the rain gauge. Supposed to have more thoughout the day today (not a constant rain though, just off and on).

We have a new addition to our household. Sarah got herself a kitty yesterday. Her name is Uba, and she’s a two year old Mankz (know of the breed, but can’t remember how its spelled!). We’ll try to get a couple of pictures later.

You all have a very good morning, and if anyone has a meal request for later, please let me know, and everyone take care.

CW - Manx - tailess cat? Like it was taken out of the oven too early? And Uba means?

Just a very light rain here at times this morning…Something rare around here in the last couple of weeks.

Also, windows shut and A/C running…mostly to keep check on a bit highter humidity. First for that in a couple of weeks too. We actually got up to 90 plus here yesterday…but humidiy was relatively low and didn’t seem that warm.

Nice photos from various forum members of the steam meet…Nice to see 765 active again…She used to be almost a regular visitor here in Muncie…Just 70 miles from her home. Many years ago I saw 765 {and took a pic of her}, incased in a chain link fence in the Ft. Wayne area…and that was before she became famous. I wonder where my photo might be found…It’s here someplace.

I remember we were driving an almost new '62 super sport Chevy at the time so that gives an idea of how distant in time that was. Sometime after that she was “rescued” and restored to operating condition.

CW - just in case you were feeling a little overloaded in the cafe/diner kitchen - just heard from the Driver that he “marked” 777 individual chix “white meat” (can’t say what they were on here). They put them on the grill for “marks” and then cook them later for a catering.

I can barely do 2 for us, I can’t imagine 777 along with 100 or so pounds of potatoes, pounds of veggies, etc. It boggles my mind and I was in food service.

Back to doing my chores!
