morning all
i will not be able to make it to the Edison show with my dad. Maybe with my grandfather. I will set up my O gauge outside today, thank GOD there will be no rain here. It was raining for a day straight with heavy down pours, and i think we accumulated about 2 inches of rain. My dad has signed me to clean out the garage. I said, how about we get it finished, an then i can put a layout in it. But NO, we will have no place to park the Convertible (we have no clue what we want. I say the BMW, or a Mercedes, or an Audi). I always say that my trains showed up first, and it should be a first come first serve basis. Still no solid answer. The garage will be a pain in my #@! to clean out. LOL. I still have not recieved a call for my Seaboard C420. It is being repaired. It is a screw that attaches the motor to the motor mount, and it has come loose. It sounds like a grinding noise in the truck, and was not able to bring it with me to the function last night. Hopefully, i will be getting a call to pick it up. as you can see i do not have a lot of patience. I was going to go out to dinner with the family, but my sister is heading to the swimclub to celebrate a little girl’s birthday. And of course, she is going to have all of her frinds over for a sleepover, and 5 seventh graders sounds like so much fun[V][V][:(!][:-,][censored][}:)][}:)]. Maybe i will spend the night at a friend’s house, and i will play video games the entire night. Or i can cause trouble around my house and freak them out. That will be next Friday, and maybe i will go see the new movie REDEYE. It looks really good. Anyway, i will check in the forum later. See ya later.
Good Morning,
Had two former teaching friends out the other day for a couple of hours and we just had a ball. They were shocked at what I (we) had built in the last few years and the time just flew by. I had gone down to the trainroom earlier just to make sure everything worked and that was a good idea, several little things went wrong but I got those fixed before they arrived.
I believe that the smaller encounters as mentioned above probably will do more to promote the hobby than anything else I can think of, no amount of advertising can match hands on experiences. I need to be a little more open and share this hobby much more than I do right now. We will be on the October open house tour for train nuts in the central Iowa area and we keep saying we are going to do an open house in December, not quite sure how many people we can comfortably accomodate at one time. One of my friends asked me if we have a security system and of course we don’t, our best security system was our German Shepherd but he died two years ago. I am seriously considering a security system and an insurance rider for the trains. I think I’ll post a new question on the board about this topic.
Have a great weekend everyone. We’ve had rain the last couple of days and today it’s very foggy with more rain on the way. It’s been very dry this summer now we can’t shut the rain off, strange.
Jon
Good mooring,
It is raining here today also so I guess I’ll have to run trains too. Hmmm. I run trains everyday any way so, I guess it does not really matter if it is raining. lol. Hope everyone has a good day.
A little rain here today - just downtown - pouring during my walk to work, then tapering off to nothing of course. I’ve been tasked to take the boys to see a movie tonight - something about penguins - so the girls can re-do a bedroom and look through school clothes in peace. Expect to see $3/ga. here soon. Thank goodness for my 9 year old Hyundai - the smallest and most basic of cars - which still gets great mileage. Costs $50 to fill up the mini-van. There goes the train money…
Morning gang. Need to work on more rain for Doug M’s area. Since taskforce meeting canceled, will do things inside [clean house, will make wife happy] and run trains. Will ride to pond and check cement work. The OFF on the legs, pants, socks and shoes must have worked. Don’t seem to have any redbugs that seem to inhabit the pond dam [and you if you stay there too long [:(]]. Now to get ready for the expensive trip to the mountains. Sure is nice to see all these folks visiting the Coffee Pot. You big city guys get to go to all of the big shows like York and Greenburgs. Better go make a half of a gallon of sweet ice tea. [:D] Have a good one and God bless.
HI GIZ,
Sorry I haven’t been at the COFFEE POT. I have been busy putting all the replacement windows in the house and I must say are looking good and cutting down on noise. Should have done this 5 years ago when I repainted the original windows. 1957 technology versus 2005 windows there is a big difference, hopefully will cut heating and cooling cost in years to come.
Been doing lots of other stuff around heretoo. I feel like that Capitol One commercial with all the Viking Giz cause every morning for the last two weeks I 've been taking at least three dogs for walks in the mornings. Neighbors on vacation so yours truly has to take care of em all. So when you see that Viking guy walking all those dogs and saying"whats in your wallet" just think of me doing the same thing.
Hope all yuz giz are in good shape. The last time been on was at page 141, got lots of reading to do? Played an College Alumni Footbal Golf tornament about three weeks ago and played good. Had a blast and met a lot of GIZ that I didn’t see in 30 years. Been playing on Thursday nights and been shooting nice rounds. Beat my brother last time out and now score is 7-4-2.
BUCKEYE nice job catching those SOUTHERN SPIES in Colubus. WELL DONE! CHIEF will try anything to get through OHIO.
Have a good one, STAY COOL?

LAZ, have I got a deal for you. My windows are 1940’s [do have storm widows too] version with weights. I’ll buy the windows and you come down and install them. I’ll pay room and board. [;)] BTW, two story Cape Cod house [dormers and steeeeep roof]. Women!!![:(!] Just found out that Pam [Lucy of I love Lucy] and her buddy [female manager of IMS] had us going 40 miles west of wedding place and then 40 miles south to stay. Then drive half way back to attend wedding and then back south to stay. Found quality hotel within 20 miles of wedding and back toward home to stay. Saving about 100 miles of travel and we would have passed the hotel twice [going and coming]. Also got rate $30 cheaper than they had. I finally found the map to wedding that wife finally dug out [I had been asking for days to see]. [}:)] Glad I got into this one.
Happy Friday All,
Had a nice evening last night when Buckeye and his wife were in town. Really nice people and Kate and I really enjoyed the time we had together. It’s the first time I have met someone from the forum. Buckeye and his wife have a vacation spot near us. I am looking forward to future get togethers with both of them. Tom, I believe that he is stopping by your way on Sunday on his way back to Columbus. I know you will really enjoy their visit.
It looks like we could get a little rain today. Have a good weekend all.
Tom
Mrs Buckeye is really nice. The other half???[?] Well, …[I want to be nice]. [;)] Road Runner just installed a new modem. Seems I have had RR so long I had a slower version of modem. They should have done this automaticly instead of me complaining. Runs great now. Later.
The overcast, good chance of rain day that the weather folks forcast for today never happened. After the grass dried a bit and it looked like it might cloud up I decided to cut grass. The sun came out blazing, I think its probably into the 90’s at this time. I had to quit cutting, the lawn tractor started acting up, seemed like it wasn’t getting gas, engine rpm’s up and down. I changed out the gas filter, blew back the gas line, added a bit of dry gas incase of water in the tank, and still no luck. Guess I’ll have to call and have it picked up. Can’t complain too much its 10 yrs old and other than mower deck and steering repairs this is the first engine problem I can’t figure.
Stopped at Memory Station this morning and found out that the Lionel Burlington gondola I’ve been waiting for ships next week. That made my decision on tomorrow’s train show, Id rather put the money toward the car, and now a lawn tractor repair.
Roger, could be an air leak at the manifold. Check all blots and gaskets. Leaning out if it is surging. Also could be trash at the needle valve. Take bowl off and let it flush out. Be careful not to loose the needle valve. Ran trains this afternoon for a while. Checked concrete job at pond dam. Looks great. Now to get clothes ready for trip. Later.
Good Evening Everyone ! LAZ : Good to hear from you, bet your glad you’re done or about done with the windows ! Now you can say, " come on snow", so you can see how comfortably warm you’ll be this winter running trains ! [:D][:D] All have a nice weekend !
Here is the UNC National NCAA Champs box car I fixed up to present to a Town Board member that loves Carolina. We really give her a hard time.
The section of Fasttrack is a defective section “Miss Edna” gave me and I drilled extra holes and attached it with heavy duty “twist ties”. [I straightened out the tabs, lifted up the rail enough to pull out the “contact blades” on the sections and bent the tabs back down.]
hey guys
i just rewired my yard. was having trouble with the power getting to it. turns out i forgot to put the ground wire to the outside rail. I guess i was out of it. lol. wow i really need to pay more attention. will not be on the forum too often tomorrow, i am bike shopping, my old HARO has had a rough life, only had it for two years. I have done so much on it, well the next one will get banged up as well. i was looking at the F3 series, (ironic isn’t it). Deciding between black, blue, or silver. still deciding
Hi all-
I was at the LHS the other day and I ordered the parts I need to get my lionel Prewar 259e looking and running good, so they should be in some time next week.
well thats all for me
Happy Railroading!
Evening folks,
After a rather rainy day it was nice that the weather cleared late this evening…usually an exact opposite happens on typical Southern Ontario summer weekends. If the humidity holds off I hope to finish final assembly and paint work on my 8’ version of Hellgate bridge. It’ll be nice to drive the golden spike on the initial stage of my shelf empire. Is it ever really finished though? I’m looking forward to the scenery stage ( as are the boys at the local hobby shop ) which I’m sure will take me well into next year. On a side note, I might have a line on 2 locos that interest me…a Lionel 18007 SP Daylight and a Lionel 18089 CNJ Camelback. Anyone have these and how pleased are you with them? Have a great weekend!

Hello All: Glad to see all are in good spirits. Laz: Your new windows will pay of big time. Replaced mine 20 years ago at my old place, saved 15-20% on heat & A.C. When I sold last year the buyerwas happy to see them, it pays off 2 ways. Thanks to all for the e-mail’s they do make my day. Enjoyed my first week of afternoon shift’s, lucked out with the 5 guys working for me, all get along & work as a team. Hope to progress with the basement this weekend want to get the layout started by Oct. Skyray: good to hear from you again. Gas prices 99.9 cents a Litre[V]. Think I will order one of the new MTH #9 trolley’s I saw in CTT. Been on my mind since I read about them. The afternoon shift premium & foremans rate should pay for it ( life is to short & you can’t take it with you). My wifes Grandma is 96 & I keep saying it’s because she hasn’t figured out a way to take her pile of dough with her (God Bless her she has been good to us). All have a good weekend, looking forward to the Sunday Pic’s. Kind Regards Steve
That could also be an airlock, seen the temperature you where using the machine in. The petrol heats on some place of the fuelhose near the engine too much, and starts vaporizing. The vapor locks the fuelhose and your engine starts to act weird…
In the mean time my girlfriend had her operation, I’m now nursing her a bit, since the operation was in her “belly” (but I don’t know the proper word for it…[:D]) and all her muscles are sore. She has to lie down on the couch and keep calm.
My doughter of 15 years old has got a bug in her head the last few day’s, wanted to leave and makes a lot of problems because she has to help a bit now and then, since her mom has had the operation. She is really in a selfish unbearable mood…
I hope that mood is bowing off soon, it’s not really nice… Luckily she stays a few days at her friend’s place since it keeps the mood in the house better for the moment.
I started a repaint job on a scooter my girlfriend has, it was black, but it should get 2 tone blue.
It helps to release my temper a bit when sandpapering the parts etc…
The layout is still half covered. I have the grasspart finished and next will be the rocky parts. Trees have to be made etc. but it’s a bit hot to work upstairs. Instead I help a friend now and then who is building a house. Yesterday we had to break the old fundation away with a huge machine to pierce through the concrete and break it into pieces. We needed the whole day to remove the old concrete fundation, but that has to be done once in a lifetime (luckily).
Hope everyone is okay and have a great trip Chief!
Good morning,
Thank God its Saturday. Yesterday was a horendous day at work.
Its raining here now and 76*
Maybe I’ll get some work done on the layout. I havn’t done anything on it in quite some time.
I hope it stays dry tomorrow I have to start moving daughter #1 back to college in Columbus. With girls it usually takes two trips[|(]
Gotta go and get some breakfast now at the local geazy spoon.
Have a good day and weekend.
Bob
Good Morning All from NE Ohio
where the temp is 77 and going back to the 90’s with rain in the area. We had some good rain during the night. The car outside temp was showing 100 deg on the way home from work yesterday.
Yesterday came at us fast. As soon as I got to work it was one thing after another. Then last night we got a new member to our family. We adopted a 1 year old Toy Poodle that the previous owner had caged most of its live.
And yes Buckeye and Mrs. Buckeye are planning on stopping by tomorrow. We have to make plans to protect our borders. It seems that we have been breached several times but Buckeye has made sure to have them caught before any other damage has happened.
Pick of the Day
Daisy
All be safe
