The Southern's " Crescent City"

While in Dalton, Ga last night, I was leaving town and happened to see, what I thought at the time, was a old passenger car. Upon closed observation, It was indeed a Southern railway coach named the “Crescent City”. It must have been taken out of service a while back since the roof was still in the orginal silver and not painted black. It still had orginal lettering as well. Does anyone know the story behind this car? It was off on an old siding at a very old warehouse with weeds growing all around it. Any info or pictures of the car in it’s “younger years” would be appreciated.

Thanks

There are three Southern Pullman sleeper/lounges in existence from what I was able to find.

The Crescent City is privately owned there in Dalton, GA.

The Crescent Moon is owned by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum - chattanooga, TN.

The Crescent Harbor is owned by the Watauga Valley Chapter - National Railroad Historical Society. There are some pics of the restoration and a bit of history.

A presume these are Post WWII lightweights on 4-wheel trucks?

yes

Thanks for the info and links/[tup]
