Nice model but my wife says the whistle sounds like the T-Rex from Jurassic Park. She’s right!
Unfortunately I am old enough to remember steam locomotive’s I lived next to the tracks,these moden day models are beautiful reproductions of the real thing,but they fall down badly on the sound side its nothing like a real steam engine the chuffing sound made by these beasts was a far deaper note and gave the listener a sound of emmense power something these models are lacking,the beat is far to fast and high pitched,nothing like the real thing,a shame, I guess its because of the small speaker.
Great review of this model and it’s features. Impressive hauling capacity at 3%! I would like to know how the driver suspension system looks - perhaps set the model upside down and remove the bottom cover. The whistle sounds accurate to me for an N&W mallet. Definitely a unique sound.

Very nice loco. Runs very slow on DC, better than other BLI and Lionel metal locos I have, and doesn’t stall at slow speed. Realistic hooter whistle like the prototype NW A with 3 whistle choices. Metal construction, very heavy. Smoke looks good. Perfect paint job.
Only problem is whistle in reverse. I’m having trouble getting it to turn off with DC Master by BLI. Maybe there is some adjustable parameter I haven’t discovered. No problems going forward.

What an awesome loco. Being a British LNER modeller, there was never such a brute in the UK. Its enough to get one to run secretly. It would be good to showcase against a Beyer Garret 4-8-8-4 which ran in Australia and South Africa…
Nice but why is the headlight not maintaining a constant brightness?
