I am considering buying a Walthers Cornerstone 130 foot DCC turntable, is there anything i should know about it before I order it?
Yep,
The first batch of the DCC version supposidly had some eletrical problems. Hence the delay between the first and second batch release.
The Electrical and DCC forum might be able to give you more details.
The only thing I can tell you is be prepared to have the best 130 foot turntable you can buy. Thats the 1st I’ve ever heard of electrical problems with them. I believe the delay between the first and second run was more of a demand issue then a mythical electrical problem. Don’t forget, know matter what we buy someone is bound to get a lemon. It could be a car, a trailer or even a Walthers turntable. [:S]
Walthers has released a press release regarding their built up 90’ and 130’ turntables and the reason for their delay.
The delay is because of electrical problems and Heljan is working on the problem.
I have been waiting almost two years now for the 90’ version.
Last information on the turntables is expected delivery is now Feb. 2012
The 130’ version is great and works as good as it looks. Just keep the dust out of the gear around the pit rails. Mine isn’t DCC but it doesn’t matter as I can modify mine if I wanted that ability.

Thanks everyone for your comments, when they come out I will be sure to pick one up!

I don’t know about the HO 130’ table but I have used a couple of the HO 90’ tables on friends layouts and I have converted 2 of the N scale 130’ tables to HO for my layout and they all work great. I understand the drives are all the same so I would expect the 130’ one to work as well as the others. I haven’t heard of any electrical problems but they obviously exist if Walthers says so since they are the folks who had them built. The new run should have those issues taken care of before they are released since they know of them. Roger Huber
