I was just wondering if everyone got any good train stuff for Christmas? I got the Lionel Penn State boxcar, the Lionel FasTrack Elevated Trestle Set, and the Lionel Truss Bridge. Looks like I can start redoing my layout tomorrow. Merry Christmas.
He sure was, but not half as good as he was to my daughter. I got the Candy Cane Single Dome Tank Car, and the Gondola with Trees and Presents for my North Pole Central set, along with a few pieces of FasTrack to expand my set.
As for train stuff for my daughter, she got a couple more Thomas and Friends cars.
It was a fine holiday. Moe and Joe are thankful they are finally unwrapped, out of the box, and unloading the lumber off of their flatcar. The Lionel Farms Poultry Dispatch car are moving the hens north in a freshly swept car.
Santa works in mysterious ways. I received a B&O GP9 (with torpedos/RAILKING), and my boy added a BNSF GP38-2 (RAILKING) to his empire. But my dear mother showed up this evening with a winter scene of kids building a snowman (unknown make from a local five & dime). It fit right into a crescent shaped bare spot in my town of Meyersdale that is front and center on my layout. Not a homerun, but definitely a run-scoring ground-rule double.
I got the Moe and Joe car too, very nice! Also two operating/uncoupling tracks, some fiber pins for O27 track so I can isolate some track, and a Lionel 1980’s sawmill (I got it on ebay for $40 for my wife to give me, it lacks one plank). Very nice, except they have stuff piled up in front of my temporary layout table and I can’t play with my new toys yet! Also, I got some tiny Santa Express cheap plastic locomotive and caboose with a little circle of track that runs on an AA battery. Finally, I got Lionel Trains on Track for the Nintendo DS, which is interesting, but I have to get used to planning the consists.
Mrs. Claus:
B&O Mikado
B&O I-12 Caboose
C&O Super Steam Freight
Post-war Repair and Service Manual - Greensburg - I will post something about this book in a day or two
Model-Railroader - How to build benchwork
Model-Railroader - Bridge and Trestles (WHY DON’T THEY MAKE O-GAUGE VERSIONS OF THESE BOOKS?)
Father-In-Law
Swift Hot Box Reefer Car
Lionel Christmas People Pack
Aunt and Uncle-In-Law
Lionel PSU Box Car
Not too bad a haul this year!
Oh, and the Mrs. ordered the B&O Passenger cars that go with the B&O Mikado, but Lionel in their infinite wisdom decided to delay delivery till March, which is why I ended up with the I-12 and Super Steam Freight, so I’m not complaining! Passenger cars arrive in March, JIT for my b-day!
LOL! No… the Mrs. FINALLY realized that this is NOT a passing fancy! Plus since I have unloaded nearly $3,000 in Great Northern/Northern Pacific engines and freight so I could switch over to B&O/C&O she realizes she has some catching up to do!
Nope no twin. She is a one-of-a-kind and I’m not letting her go!
I just have to figure out a couple things:
How to silence the FasTrack… I know it will be tough but I have to do it, or I have to switch to Gargraves/Ross.
What smoke fluid to use. The Lionel smoke fluid makes her sick and the ProtoSmoke doesn’t seem to work with Lionel Trains and the SuperSmoke seems to only work in the PostWar steam engines… Are the smoke fluids that much different?
We visited a home on Christmas Eve that had a train running and smoking. The smoke fluid was Protosmoke scented in some holiday berry. My wife loved the smell of it. I’ve bought Megasteam and was not happy with the smoke output or the scent. My wife said it smelled the same as Lionel’s smoke fluid, even though it was supposed to smell like cedar.
I just got my fist of megasteam a week ago, and i must say, i love it… the holiday berry and candy cane scents are pretty good. I think ill be putting in an order for the hot chocolate soon. For some reason, i found that to get good smoke, i had to add more fluid than i normaly did with the lionel stuff… Maybe because its thinner?? i dont know, but i ended up using about a half dropper full per refill, and now it smokes like crazy… even one of my locos that i thought had a bum smoke unit is putting out crazy amounts of smoke.
as for xmas,
from the soon to be wife i got some stuff i picked out at a show…
my first scale rolling stock, a lionel PRR scale double door boxcar
a kline PRR tank car,
and as a suprise, she got me a cool 0-27 PRR yellow lighted transfer caboose… really cool and adds some more eye candy under the tree… loving it all!
I got what I wanted, which unfortunately wasn’t train related.
A Canon F-1N camera with AE finder FN and AE motor drive FN. This is one solid tank of a camera, quite unlike anything I’ve ever used before. I’ve not yet weighed it, but I’d put it at around 4 pounds for the camera, motor drive, and the 12 AA batteries that allow it to shoot at 5 frames per second. It’s certainly not one of these newfangled featherweight pieces of junk that they try to pass off as cameras. I always thought my T90 was a heavy camera, but it’s extremely light in comparison.
I got EVERYTHING I wanted - no surprise since I was a VERY GOOD BOY in 2006! Here are just a few of the things that were in my stocking and under the Tree: Gallon of white teeth paint so my smile dazzles like the snow. A new hairpiece so I can hang out with the Ohio kids and the babes will look at me instead of Buckeye the Buck. A years supply of BOTOX so I can continue to look like a Chippendale. A TMCC II / DCS interface to DCC. Bob Nelson’s advance copy of his new book “BASIC Electricity for Fledgelings” (Day Care, Pre-School, and Roseyville Folk Level). 5 gallons of TexASS BBQ sauce (for BEEF - NOT PORK). New Snow Blower. Speaking of Snow Blowers, I just got back from Denver…they called me last week and needed help at Stapleton on the main runway. You guys would have been proud of me!!! (See my avatar)
