Afternoon/evening, all!
One of my current projects is a Frenchman River kit (Hamlet Bank), which is pretty amazing (the kit, not necessarily my touch on it…). I’m not sure how the manufacturer (think it’s a couple or a family operation) did it, but the basic building comes with all four sides, roof (see the photos below) and includes great detail (including tarpaper roof that looks like it’s been on there a wee bit too long, wrinkled spots, etc.), changes in roofline, concrete block foundation, add-on frame part out the back and brick for the main building.
I spray-canned the basic ‘brick’ color (must be, 'cause that was the name on the can, right?), and then used Engine Black (or it might’ve been Grimy Black - both Polly S) for the tarpaper roof, and first used Floquil Old Silver (then because I had a little problem with the paint, I did a second coat with Model Master German Silver, Metallic - see next photo) on the corrugated aluminum roof for the extension, and Aged Concrete (Polly S) for the block foundation. I did the extension walls in Reefer White (Polly S).
Still have the doors and windows to add, which all appear to be Grandt Line or Tichy ones. Planning to paint them with Depot Green (have a 2 oz. bottle of that in Floquil). The kit also comes with an outhouse; still deciding if I want to use that with this building or use it elsewhere.
So that’s some of what I’ve been doing. Need to go back in and do some
