Weekend Photo Fun 7 - 9 September.

Gidday All, apart from the first guy, great stuff again this weekend.

Heartland Garry, I do like that paint scheme, what I’d describe as understated but stylish.

Regarding the “Down Under guys” I’m certainly not offended and suspect that OzJim isn’t either but here’s a link to something that may give you pause for thought. [:-^]

OzJim, pleased to see you’re under way on your new layout construction.

Curt Webb, I would have thought you’d have had a few of those Accurail #4303.1 Pennsy boxcars already? [;)]

Would make a good birthday [G] . [:)] Not that I probably make use of them but its good to see that Accurail offers decals to number 12 cars. ( Many Happy Returns for tomorrow ).

simon1966. Always great to see steam running, but those two heritage units got me thinking. Painting locos wouldn’t be cheap but factor in the individual paint schemes and …??., got to take my hat off to the guys who came up with and saw the project through.

While being 16 hours ahead of Washington DC time means I hve the advantage of getting WPF off to a flying start, the downside is that now it 0028 hrs Monday morning, so off to bed for me, w**k in the morning.[sigh]

Continue having a Great Weekend.

Cheers, the Bear.

Bear- When I first got back into the hobby I had a bad experience with Accurail so I stayed clear. Recently I have tried them several times and I am happy with their kits.

Which post? I don’t see it.

Got a chance to work on the layout today.

Removed two tracks to make way for a wye.

Where the track sits will be a leg of the wye.

.

A few pics of an old 2-8-0 that belonged to the Huntington & Broad Top Mountain RR in Claysburg, PA…from my trip to Altoona, PA last weekend.

GP9s haul a freight past the diesel shop.

Dug out this antique today. Tyco Kellogg’s center flow hopper, circa 1972.

That would be a GP9 [:D]

A pair of favorites a slug and its “mother”

but whats wrong in the pic?

Not much from me lately. I have completely dismantled the layout and finally (after weeks of procrastinating and over analysis) started the helix. Not much, but it’s my first helix…

Perhaps whats in the engine shop in the background?

Worked on finishing up several projects this week, most notably pretty much finishing up the sounds installs on my Sunset K-28 and K-36. I still need to add working front couplers, but will get to that later. I also need to finish the numberboards for the head and backup lights, but that awaits printer issues.[:(!]

It’s getting crowded around the engine ready track, but there’s lots of power to choose from now., as it’s the transition era.

As you can see it’s a full house at the roundhouse.

At the End of Track in far away Red Mountain, the availability of motive power bumped by the new big Ks had the trainmaster on the Silverton Union Rail Road out with his survey crew checking clearances on the line to Red Mountain. Although upgraded in recent years, this line has been worked only by C-19 and C-25 class locos. There’s always some silly person who builds their new fence 6" from the tracks and that doesn’t work so well. A test run with a K-27 is scheduled for this week.

In other news, the oldest track on the layout is at Red Mountain. The turnouts are almost all Caboose Ind. ground throws, so only relying on the point contact to feed power to the frogs. I added 7 new drops to the bus and did some other minor maintenance and cleaning and this area is now up to the standards of the rest of the layout.

The GP30 slugs are only used with GP40-2 mothers…not SD40-2`s.

Also the “C” on the SD40-2 is the “Chessie” C.

kbkchooch - That’s the style! [Y][8D]

…certainly beats this:

Gee, I woulda sworn those were express reefers behind the GP9- and a mail and express train.

No,those are a string of empties, being hauled west on the front end of a freight. I didn’t give it a thought when I took the shot,'probably should have pulled it forward a bit to show more of the train.
