Mike, thanks for starting us out, sorry won’t be there for Christmas cookies. Have fun with building those kits, and remember some of those Rio Grande units ended up with PC on their noses!

Casey, my wife would love that train, but only if it had dark chocolate!

Finally got some time to finish my Wabash GP35!

Wabash GP35’s were delivered in the 1962 scheme of all blue with Silver Trucks, Fuel Tank and Cab Roofs, soon after delivery the railroad was leased to the N&W and at first all that happened was a Norfolk and Western was added above the stripe on the nose then eventually repainted in black and white. I added lift rings and new sand covers to the model. Painted with a Floquil blue paint I mixed from an old Jim Hediger article in MR and Floquil Platinum Mist, then lettered with Microscale Decals.

I don’t have anything new to post, so I am recycling a holiday themed picture I took last month for Show Me Something. It is a Garfield Central hopper car carrying a load of Christmas ornaments. I hope you all like it.

This is why I have not made any Model Railroading progress this week. I am tearing out the kitchen. I am way behind on this due to work issues. The electrician and plumber will be here next week, and the cabinets will arrive in a couple weeks.

I waited too long to pick out appliances. I just bought them yesterday, but they will not be delivered until February 10th! I will have an entire month of a new kitchen with no appliances.

Mike L … Thanks for the yummy cookies ! I like the Rio Grande F-unit (one of my favorite paint shcemes). Have fun with the kit.

Casey … You found a creative use for your magnificent #40.

Kevin … That’s a colorful load in the hopper. Your kitchen project looks like too much work.

Rick … Your Wabash GP35 looks fabulous. There probably is not a better looking GP35.

Below you can see I am working on my corner project. I am interupted with too much non-model-railroad-stuff… So it takes a while to do what I want.

I completed the scenery under the bridges. The wood truss bridge was not yet installed when I took the photo a couple of days ago. It is made from a Campbell kit. Now it is installed and connect to a track to the right of the picture. Lower level tracks show the outer track getting closer to the middle track where it will connect with a curved turnout out of view in the picture.

My layout does not have much relating to Christmas. In the following photo, however, you can see decorations in the window of a shop.

Excellent stuff for this Holiday Edition of WPF, Folks!

Thanks for starting things off, Mike. Wish I could take you up on that Cookie Action! Your F3 reminds me of some of the Rio Grande F7s that came east and ran on the Penn-Central. Saw them quite often in Cleveland. I should have bought one when Athearn had them available. Now they’re $$$

Nice shot of the Chocolate mine run. The dark chocolate must be the Anthracite?

Rick, the silver on those trucks really brings out the detail. Did you do a wash of some kind on them after painting? Most modelers get the silver too bright, IMHO, yours look perfect.

You have a fun scene there, Kevin. Watch out for law suits with that wall obstructing vision at the crossing, though. I don’t envy your kitchen project, though[C=:-)]

Your snow scenes look great, Mike. That pickup parked on the ice reminds me of what happens around here every winter. Goofballs drive out onto Lake Erie and wind up breaking off an ice floe. The Coast Guard has to rescue them and their vehicles go into the drink! Like Spanky says, “they’ll never learn”.

Love your bridges, Garry! [Y]They make a great setting for viewing trains.

TBDanny, Your scenes of Campa look so inviting it seems like I could just wander right into the village and make myself at home. Great depth to those scenes!

I finished up a sharp little NYC caboose that is an AMB Laserkit. This is a really FUN kit to build and I like very much the way it turned out.

Thanks Ed. And, I absolutely agree with previous comments on your photo, it is excellent! I thought is was art work and not a photo. Your smoke effects on the loco makes one think, is this real, or is this artwork. Kind of like art work that is so real and detailed, you wonder if it’s a photo!

Hey everyone, great stuff so far. Sadly, I don’t have any projects this week- ran out of LEDs this past week and won;t get anymore until the 6th of January at the earliest (Thank you China shipping)… So, I’ll share an Archives photo of mine. First Circut of LEDs I had ever installed. Taken on the club layout.

Yes the open house is still going on, and it’s doing well. We’ve alreaedy almost got to 200 visitors signing our guestbook this year…and only once have we blown a fuse on the layout- member accidentally dropped a BLI steamer and it blew the fuse—go figure.

Thanks for the complement Ed, I actually did nothing to the trucks except paint them. The original Toulene Based Floquil Platinum Mist would have had the bright silver finish, but I think the last couple of bottles of the Platinum Mist were the enamal version which dries into a dull aluminum type finish as shown.

Oh my, if I have to fill a boxcar with cookies, I’ll have to start baking somewhere around July…

We do have several “cookie boxes” on the roster, though, so are prepared to handle the traffic if the orders flow in.[8D]
