Somehow I managed to stumble onto this ‘new’ forum M-R site (through another magazine’s forum!)
So, I STILL couldn’t log in using my M-R credentials but I was given the option of ‘sign in with Google’ and that worked!
I even have my old avatar showing!
It’s been lonely out here. Glad the forums are back and we can all resume our fun. Thanks to Firecrown for a new, hopefully stable format and platform.
Looks like there’s a bit of a learning curve to the new format but I’m sure we’ll figure it out. I see all my private messages have survived the migration.
I received an e-mail from “Trains.com Forum” inviting me to join, and explaining I had to try to log in but then click the “forgot my password” option to re-set / create a password. Once I did that I got in pretty quickly.
I might have gotten the e-mail because I had contacted them about not being able to get into the old forums for many months(?)
This is awesome, a forum with a nice clean interface, without all the ugly ads. Will take some time to get used to navigating, but what a difference from the clunky old forum. And old posts seem to have converted. Thanks trains.com!
Got the email earlier this afternoon, reset the password and we’re back. Need to figure out how to navigate and pictures but it’s nice to be back here.
I’m Nick Torres, one of the admins here. While I’m new to the Train Community, I’ll primarily be focusing on the technical aspects of the forum.
Please don’t hesitate to share your suggestions with me. While there are many of you it may take some time to respond and implement your ideas but we truly value your input and want to hear from you.
That said, I’m genuinely excited to have this forum back up and running—it’s incredible to see how far back this forum goes…some of you have been around for decades.
Looking forward to being a part of this incredible community!
Hi Nick,
I have a question - why did some posts get truncated when they were ported over from the old site? Was there a length limit to what would be copied?
Not complaining - it is what it is. Just wondering.
