crossthedog, very impressive work. The level of detail is superb. I like especially the grass growing up thru the cracks.

Finally got around to trying out JMRI and DecoderPro to program some of my locomotives. I’m not particularly computer savvy, but it all came together without a hitch. I highly recommend it to anyone who’s been on the fence, it really did make programming so much easier.
Jim, where are you in NH? I’m in Westford MA
Regards, Chris
Chris, the NH is for the New Haven, but I’m still close by in CT!
Well, if anyone here has ever been in Idar Oberstein Germany they’ll recognize this in an instant.
A little more about the model… it’s made of foamcore, stands roughly 32 inches from the subroadbed on a 36 x 72 layout, and is still incomplete, there isan old watchtower on top of the mountain that is in ruins, that is also modelled
Up until the mid 80’s it had been just an old cement coated building with no real pazazz then they brought it uo to it’s currentlevel of restoration. there is a small observation deckright next to the steeple. Access to which, is a long … and I mean LONG stairway. But the view of the valley is magnificent from there. Those admittedly more fit, can climb to the top and view the ruins, and have an even grander view of the valley .
I crossed that bridge many many times.
So Back in the Usa… there is some touch up painting yet to do as this has been on (so far) three
Layouts of mine…each one somewhat better than
the last. Also have to re-do the shrubbery, and complete the rubble at the base of the ruins and More shrubbery!!
Hope Y’all enjoyed my ride down Memory lane…
I have eliminated my Engine Servicing Facility on a peninsula and, slowly but surely, I am replacing it with a passenger train station.
Rich
Rich, I thought you already had a station?
Regards, Chris
This was a quick project this afternoon. I was switching out some cars in the Aberdeen yard when I noticed that the sofa that I cobbled together from scrap styrene was lonely. So, I whittled up a derelict washing machine from some styrene parts and a piece of wire. The sub-parts include the cabinet, the drum with agitator, and the lid. The drum was hacked out from a scrap of a RIX highway bridge pier that I squared up to fit within the washer cabinet.
The parts roughly assembled:
And the washing machine chucked to the side of the road. Just needs paint and weathering:

Simple and effective, Dave F. Something different to what is modelled. Well done.

+1
I do. Dearborn Station is the feature attraction on my layout , and it is at the other end. This new station is on the peninsula at the other end of the layout to house my CN&W passenger locos.
Rich
That’s what I thought. The photos over the years are most impressive, as is the rest of your layout.

Penny, nice work. Is that O scale?
Regards, Chris
It’s semi scale. I compressed it’s dimensions a bit but generally stuck with 1:48 for the important bits. It’s based on the interchange depot of the Nickel Plate and Cincinnati Northern at Latty Ohio.
I’ve been building it from 65 lb cardstock on a simple illustration board backing.
I’m hand measuring, drawing and cutting everything so it can be a bit slow. . Especially the windows! Thankfully they’re done!
Hello All,
Surprisingly my busy time of the year is winter, not much time to work on the pike.
My next project will be rewiring it from spiderweb feeders to a bus system with five (5) power districts, including one auto-reversing section.
Probably won’t happen until the snow melts in June or July.
Hope this helps.
Well, with a number of Life Like/Proto 2000 with modified Athearn drives sitting on my shelves, it was inevitable that I would find some cracked axle gears. At least that is the working hypothesis since I really can’t see any cracks but the engines run with either a clicking sound or, in one case, it stutters violently. OK, needs new axle gears. Problem is that no one seems to have them in stock. Very frustrating! All of my (so far) Kato drives have no issue, just need a lube job.
