What was the last train you were on?

When was the last time you were on a train? Are you planning on going on a trip soon? The last train I was on was a SEPTA commuter train like last month.

The last train I was on was a round trip from Fullerton to L.A.

…Train 97 and 92 in Florida…Few years ago.

Saturday 8/21: A round-trip with four segments: Acela BWI-Philadelphia, NJTransit r-t Philadelphia-Atlantic City, Metroliner Philadelphia-BWI.

Acela and eastbound NJ Transit had good passenger loads. Westbound NJTransit was half full; Metroliner was virtually deserted

The last train I was on was last August in Rochelle, IL. They took the train from Rochelle to Sterling, IL. It was METRA and it was fun. That was the first train I ever rode while not being able to stick my head out a window. But its not everyday you get the chance to be on a train that everyone can see around the world…thank you TRAINS.COM. I do want to get on another train someday, when and where is still up in the air but my days aren’t done yet.

A local, a bit earlier today. Power was a single NS Dash 9…

LC

June 30th, 2001 Amtrak 19 ( Cresent Limited ) D.C. - Lynchburg, VA.

It was June 12 and 13, 2002 and I was in the loco with my grandpa, he had picked me up in Milwaukee and we took the train back to Portage. It was really fun, wish I could do it more!!

Capitol Limited-Washington to Chicago last April. (Metra on to Fox Lake doesn’t count.).

No fair Randy and LC, you guys get paid to take cab rides. The rest of us have to pay to go coach.[swg]

My last ride was Big Girls first ride. Behind Milwaukee Road 261from St Paul to LaCrosse and back on July 2nd.

In June I rode the Lewis and Clark Explorer to Astoria, Oregon.

When I was a kid, my dad was an engineer for the Alaska pipeline. He took my brother and I on a trip by train from Seward to Anchorage in our car on a train of flat cars. We then took a train from Anchorage to Fairebanks behind a consist of early F units. I’ll never forget the Sourdough pancakes.

OK . I’ll admit to a foul… I’d rather go coach though. more likely sleeper.

I assume you will pin a note on your seat saying “WAKE ME UP FOR MY STOP” in big letters.

Train 850/851 last Labor Day weekend. Indianapolis-Chicago roundtrip

It’s a “real train”. I’d count it!

Tennessee Valley Rail Museum, four miles, last part of July, in Chattanooga.

I rode MARTA in Atlanta last year around Christmas. If it has rails and “trains” it’s a railroad. If it carries passengers, it’s a passenger railroad. I took the train from the northern terminal, and rode all the way into the city. The train was 3/4’s full. It took me a half hour and I got to avoid driving in rain and Atlanta drivers.

I can’t quite bring myself to believe that if it is on rails, it’s a train. The reason is that Philadelphia has subways and trolleys and elevateds, and if I count those I ride a train so often that it’s practically boring.
Basically, my rule for myself (in this country, anyway,) is that the ticket has to be issued by Amtrak. Special cases - Alaska RR, Cumbres & Toltec, etc. decided case-by-case.
My last rain trip: Acela to/from NYC last September.

The Western Maryland Scenic in Cumberland, Maryland a couple weeks ago.

Memorial Day weekend, round trip Chicago to Milwaukee. Ain’t like the Turbos I worked on years ago.
