What were some of the better looking cabooses of all time

HI everyone I was kinda of thinking what were some of better looking cabooses that. you have seen out on the. Rails in past 10 or 20 years. I was thinking like some Soo line cabooses or CNW cabooses or any other types if you got pictures please pass them on this away [:)][[:)]

I like the PRR N-5’s. The ugliest had to be the Penn Central transfer caboose.

I liked the BN cabooses with the green sides and yellow ends.

N&W CF, CG, CH and the cadillac of them all, the C31P.

The DMIR bay window caboose, C-205!!! One of a kind.

…Liked the Pennsy’s with the round windows…Wonder if Raymond Lowie {sp?}, may have designed their exterior shape…They looked like he might have.

Anything with a coupla. Those bay-wondows are just plain ugly!

Oh goody! I get to be the first one to name the obvious winner, the CB&Q semi-streamlined cupola cabeese w/ the silver paint and F unit style trim

You have obviously never been in one. Ask old crew members which they prefer riding in…
The bay window looks better.

NKP Bay Window, High Speed Service

PRR N5C and N8!! They both are nicely proportioned, symetrical and have that neat quasi-streamlined cupola.

The ugliest are those ex-NH cabeese that had their cupola windows blanked and bay windows installed.

The short B&O bay windows with the vertical ribs.
The very short DM&IR wooden hacks with high cupolas

I’m sure the crew would rather look out the side than climb up into the coupla, I’d probably rather look out the bay windows than have to be up in the coupla, but unless I misread something this is about the LOOKS of the caboose.

For a road caboose, I’d vote for the EL/ex-Erie short cabooses with the offset cupola. For a transfer caboose, the BRC cabooses in red.

I vote for the M-5 cabooses of the Atlantic Coast Line - orange with black lettering. There were used after the merger with the Seaboard Air Line as well.

I liked those B&O “wagon-top” cabooses as well, but I’m also a big fan of the Milwaukee Road horizontal-rib BW cabooses. CN/WC has a FRVR caboose by way of C&NW and CGW (!) that is painted up beautifully, it’s a center-cupola design. The old C&NW bay-windows with the flag on the side were always very classy, too bad many of the survivors are in poor shape. [:(] WSOR’s X-103 (x-GTW transfer caboose) in yellow is also very classy, but my favorite recent-era caboose was SOO 119, which had a smiley face painted in the center “O”! Sadly, CP sold it last year, prior to that it was a fixture around Milwaukee.

Dont get me wrong,I love the cupola too, I just like the bay better.

[:D] Mine …a 1970 Centralia built wide vision caboose that is my backyard.

It has a big porch that has a nice 1950’s style chair & a place to hold my beer. I can have a cold one & watch the world go by.

I see plenty of nice cabooses at times…wait, we’re talking about trains.[:D]

I am partial to CN’s modern cupola as well as Santa Fe’s

I’ve never seen a caboose I didn’t like. [:D][:D][:D]
