Why aren't we treated fairly?

Ok, since there has been ample space devoted to other issues of significance, being “teens”, and on another forum “race” (which was has been extremely well done, and is an outstanding thread).

Now back to MY issue:

Why aren’t we treated fairly? Being left handed is NOT a curse. But the way our society has accommodated our requirements is an embarrassement. Do you realize that we cant even use a “regular” coffee cup which we purchased because of a specific logo to be displayed, without having that logo facing the wrong way. And the list goes on… Notebooks try writing over the spiral or rings, school desks with the armrest on the wrong side. Never even try using scissors, your thumb get bent backwards. Brooms they are cut at an angle to accommodate all you righties. Power tools, these are dangerous in the hands of a left handed person, the grips are fashioned the wrong way. Why does everyone continue to perpetuate this unfairness. Even the hand held remotes for trains are designed for right handed people. (Try using it in your left hand). I could go on for days with these examples, but you get the idea.

Now I am not meaning this just for me, there are a lot of others that have this similiar fate to contend with. And, I don’t see it going away in my lifetime. It isn’t something that you grow out of. I just get tired of having to make all these consessions to the righties, without any consideration given to our plight. And noone seems to care. I’ve talked to other people and those that are left handed feel the same way.

Don : I believe they addressed one of those issues years ago, when some one invented the Left handed monkey wrench !!

Oh & some of the left handed pitchers & hitters in Baseball are very important, too !! [(-D]

Thanks, John

Come to think of it, my boxer-briefs are geared for the right-handed sect. You may be onto something, Bake…

I’m left handed and proud of it! I’ve never felt picked on or left out from society. Well, actually I have, but not for being left handed anyway. As for baseball, I excelled in that sport as a young man. I played a year and a half for the Dodgers back in the 80’s. And in all honesty, I always owed my success then to being left handed.

And a woman hasn’t been properly kissed until she’s been kissed “lefty”!

Jim

YOUR RIGHT… But, you guys are making fun of me now. So just stop posting and let this thread die. You don’t appreciate the seriousness. And this is not about me, I said that.

Too funny…

I’m trying to do everything I can to spawn a left-handed pitcher. That way he’ll always have a job. My wife isn’t so crazy about the idea though. One, she doesn’t like the assumption that the spawn will be male, and second, she says forcing left-handedness, baseball, and pitching is wrong.

I sure wish I’d been a left-handed pitcher, instead of a right-handed outfielder…

Being right handed, I can honestly say… I never thought of that.

There is a website that is devoted to people who are left handed. It is called…How to use your right hand…You need to consentrate on this and really put some effort into it. Many great people have been left handed. I don’t recall their names, but they were great.

I don’t even know why I am posting this.

Chcuk…oops…I can’t type left handed.

Nothing wrong with being a SouthPaw.

Nothing at all.

But we know who you are.

And lean closer to the microphone, please.

This is too good.

[ MOVE ON ! [:D]

Don, my Dad was left handed. Wrote horrible. Whenhe was kid, teachers shipped him and tried to make him write right handed. Yes they did!!! My advantage was, Dad taught me to do everything lefthanded and I am right handed. Raked the yard both ways, chopped the fields both ways, cast a rod and reel both ways, used tools both ways and can write both ways [lefthanded is about as bad as his was]. I actually use to be able to throw a ball with both hands [haven’t done that in years].

They say left handed people are more creative, and that most of them make the best artists.

Well, I say, righties are smart enough not to waist paper!!![;)]

The origins of left-handedness

Stone age implements discovered seem equally divided between left and right.

Study of cave drawings indicates a preference for the left hand.

When tools became more sophisticated, a clear hand preference emerged (practicality of making two versions of a tool)

The right hand preference may have originated in sun worship. In the Northern hemisphere you have to face south to follow the sun and move from left to right until the suns sets in the west. This gave moving to the right and the right hand side a great significance.

Another theory says that as the heart is on the left hand side, a shield would be in his hand to defend it. Any weapon therefore had to be held in the right, which became the dominant hand.

Recent theories have included one that right is the normality and left-handedness, is a deficiency which result from a traumatic birth.

I thank God every day that my Mom always moved the pencil from my left hand to my right.

Rubbish! Being left handed is one of the things I am thankful for. When I shake hands, my gun hand is free!

I run my main line train counter clock wise too!

Lefty here. Would not have it otherwise.

[#ditto]

There’s one I never thought of!!!
