One of the members of our local NRHS chapter took a picture of a wierd pice of equipment a while back and we could find no info on it. I don’t have the picture of it in my possesion but will try to get it to post at some point.
It was like a huge blower with a headlight on the front, there was a tornado type logo on the side.
Not sure what it was for.
Most likely it sounds like something used for snow removal or tunnel ventalation.
…What you seem to be describing could be a rotary snowplow, but noting your location and length of time on here, I believe you would know that…
Not any rotary i have ever seen no discharge chute either. I will have to get the pictures
Well, I’ve long held that the CN blows, so perhaps you’ve stumbled upon the cause.
Either that or it was a certain CN Sr. Exec, who’s full of hot air…
Did you find a picture of this URO?
This piece of equipment you’ve described is pretty much consistent - or at least not inconsistent - with that recently completed new British 4-6-2 steam locomotive, Tornado, to be used for mainline excursion service. See this month’s (Febraury 2009) edition of Trains (upper left of this web page, above) for a multi-page feature article on her:
“They Really Did Build a New 4-6-2!
It cost $6 million and took 18 years, but the U.K. resurrected a lost mainline steam locomotive and has it running
By Adrian Brodie”
I will see if i can get the picture at my next NRHS meeting next week.
has nothing to do with the british steam engine
