BOO y’all! October Coffee Pot. Mountains of pancakes topped with fried apple slices and maple syrup. Bobbing for GRITS over 18+ years.

Mornin’ guys and gals. Breezy and wet in the Potomac Highlands. Fifey’s bachelor days are over, as Ms Kelly returning this afternoon. Best be getting on the business end of the Swiffer. But first, need to locate the Swiffer…

Good Morning!!

Fife’s up early to start brewing the 'pot…thanks, Fife!!

Ian’s visit here is still going on, wet and windy until tomorrow.

Work is steady right now, just waiting until 4 to get done. Unsure of plans after, but I can tell you, they will be inside. Maybe a movie, looks like the Yanks v Orioles with be a wash out.

Got in 3 MPC era Amtrak cars, on truck is loose, those plastic pins are BS. I think I have a solution for that, we’ll see. I bought some E clips so I could repair a Menards Southern Box Car. I may bring them both up and work on them during the day.

Tomorrow, Mrs. wants to decorate for Halloween - depending on the weather, of course.

Monday off to visit the Princess and my ex - painting and general packing for the move, house goes up for sale in 2 weeks.

That’s all for now

Good Morning all;

“Bobbing for grits” Oh the humanity!

Fall is definitely here. Temps have been mild with only one frost warning so far. Looks like 50s and 60s for the next week. The leaves are turning with about 50% color here and more color up the North Shore from what I have seen online. Its difficult to decide if we should do inside or outside jobs. We usually wait too long and end up doing the outside jobs with blue fingers.

I have been working through the boxes in storage and discovering all kinds of trains and equipment that I forgot I had. I love retirement. I might head to the farmers market today and get the ingredients for one of my Italian grandmother’s sauces.

Have a great weekend. Those in harms way - stay safe.

Fall is here in mid Michigan. Took one of our last pontoon rides around the lake and got the travel trailer winterized today. Will probably pull the pontoon out tomorrow.

I’ve gotten an invitation to set up a layout at a small train show in Sedalia, Mo. Not sure if I will be able to make that or not. I’d like to, as I have displayed there many times in the past. But, it is 700 miles away and is the weekend before Election Day. Travel could be a problem.

Mornin’ guys and gals. Rain and 54 in the Potomac Highlands. Wifey has returned from NC, and the house feels like a home once more. Today we will probably just chill. I’ll watch my Nascar race, and may mess around in the train room.

8ntruck - 700 miles would be a non-starter for me…

KRM - Hey, not bobbing for grits in boiling water… [I]However, that would add a unique degree of difficulty to the challenge…

anjdevil - Rare is the day I sleep past 0600.

Fifedog - I’ve got a project running in the city where that train show is that will have me there for most of October. Won’t be like I’ll be making a trip there just for the show.

8n - [;)]

Yikes! 700 miles would be out of the question in my case! Two to two-and-a-half hours is as far as I care to go for a train show although there ARE some interesting big 'uns here on the East Coast I MAY give a try to at some point. Maybe.

Still, it’s very flattering you were asked to attend!

Well… 2 more dr appts are a wrap. Need to call my PcP and schedule follow-up and medication review. Made pork chops for FiL yesterday, got the recipe from TheQ’s cousin who used to make them for him, we was all smiles. Made reservations for New Year’s Eve. Taking the family to Nemacolin for a few days. Hope it snows so snow tubing and other activities will be more memorable. Talked to Mom today, surprised her and the reaction was priceless.

Have to call some contractors tomorrow to discuss projects. Got the clearance to get quotes for finishing the train room. I am going to have 3 circuits run for power and a second for lights, one switch will power the lights above the layout and the other will be for the walking/standing area, thinking of having the 3 power circuits switched as well (the lights on the left as you enter the room and the layout switches to the right)… just thinking.

TheQ wants crown hung in the great room as the joint where the wall meets the ceiling is cracked again. Need to get up in the attic to nail the rafters to the wall headers. Drives me crazy the builder wouldn’t install hurricane straps like I demanded, said he would but when the drywall guy came to make repairs he told me the framers didn’t install them and we were getting ‘roof lift’. GRRRR.

Have a great one

Mornin’ guys and gals. Cloudy, cool and damp along the Alleghany front range. Waiting for my cook to make pancakes and eggs.

Did manage to get the first coat of paint (Aloof Grey) on the new scenery, and will start painting and scenicing the roadway. Guests are coming early next month, which will drive me to get the area completed.

Speaking of guests, I’ll be expecting a “drive-by” to or from Nemecolin…

It’s been chilly today, and drizzling a bit. I’ve been busy with my new train goodies, it’s been quite a while since I worked on any prewar O gauge. I forgot just how much I love the look of prewar Lionel terracotta & orange paint.
Yom Kippur tomorrow, Thursday will probably be a day out for me, with a friend. Friday I’m getting another booster, so Saturday will probably not feel great but I may well be volunteering again this Sunday. Quite the busy week this is turning out to be for me.

Good Morning

Let’s try this again…

Finished up painting over the nail holes in the paneling, next will need to paint over the holes in the trim. My Ex and the Princess and making quick work of boxing everything up.

More boxes of trains to come here to Mom’s, just lining everything up.

Prepping for tonight’s meeting for the County Fireman’s Association. Lots to do over the next few days. Drill tomorrow, Friday is open, Saturday after work off to the mausoleum for Mom’s birthday. Sunday will stand honor guard over our fallen friend/firefighter. We may not be able to go to the drive in classic car cruise due to the viewing and services. We’ll see.

Day 5 of rain and colder temps, ok, I’m done.

Brent - good to see you doing well. Stay healthy, please.

Off to work - very distracted with everything going on

Afternoon/evening folks!

Therese Wallace received the TCA mini-brick this week that memorializes Banks Wallace.

The TCA will try to place the actual brick prior to York Oct meet, but it depends on the weather and the person that does the brick placement at the Strasburg TCA museum.

Thank you Roy.

That is a great rememberance of a good man. I will look for this on my next trip.

I would hope The Chief would be so honored also.

Great tribute to the Chief! [tup]

Thanks Roy!

Evening.

Not much going on here, just counting down the days until the day after Halloween, so I can put my ceramic Christmas buildings (From WalMart) on my layout and run my Lionchief Polar Express around them.

Oh, I also played in another softball game today, lost a close one 9-8.

BY the way what ever happened to the Chain of “Freindly Restaraunts” that were all over New England and New York? last one I was in was 10 years ago

Mornin’ guys and gals. Dealing with a bum left foot the past couple days. Need to get to my Doc’s today, and also pick up some crutches. Usually, I’d be extolling the virtues of having a peg leg [oX)], but I’ve changed my mind…[(-D]

Thanks Roy. Looks great.[Y]

Sorry to hear that Fife! Hope your recovery’s swift!

Myself, I’ve been dealing with a cold the past few days but it seems to be abating now after copious doses of Dayquil, Nyquil, shots of bourbon and sweating it out in the gym’s sauna.
