OH NO!!! He made another one. This is 101 isn’t it? [bday] and many more old Buddy.

Talked to the son-in-law yesterday and asked “for next Christmas do you think the boys would prefer a steam enginge or a diesel?” Didn’t ask if they could have one, no choice in the matter. After a “gee I don’t know” I asked what would Daddy prefer and he replied “a traditional engine.” So it’ll be a steam engine. I don’t think he had any trains as a boy, his Dad passed away when he was young and he was raised by his Mom and older sister.
Reason I wanted to know so early is we have one UP starter set left with the Berk. that I’ll put aside for myself before the new stock comes in and prices go up.
Roger : looks like you may be building even another layout now !! [:D]
Look at the car I just won on E-bay !! It’s a Home Depot custom painted gon !! [(-D] They even had a boxcar like it, but I only bid on this one !
Thanks, John
Hi Dennis,
My Lionel starter set is the Copper range with 0-6-0 loco, 4 cars, caboose, 60X40 loop of track and CW80 controller. Got it from Grzyboski for $159.00 plus carriage, that made it $300.00 (that hurt). The cost and complexity of powering it up is making my wallet shake with fright.
BUCKEYE - [bday] Here’s hoping you get the PRESIDENTIAL treatment (a.k.a. pizza & cigars [:-^])
CHIEF - you threw me off when you said Hendricks Racing. (Rusty never raced for that team). And I’ve heard that claim about him before. I’m about 6 hours drive up 81 from Martinsville, and have never been to that facility. I wouldn’t mind sitting up in the nosebleed section of their backstretch though…you can watch the race in front of you, and watch CSX right behind you!
Well, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BUCKEYE!!! I am surrounded by things as old as you…we call them TREES! Just kidding. Hope you have a most enjoyable day and that your are blessed.
Went by the place to get some new sneakers put on my car. $880.00 for 4. That is a good bit of pocket change that could have gone to a nice engine[V]. Anyway, they have me down for 3pm so we will swing by there.
Otherwise, not much happening down this way. Temp is about 60 and sunny. We have some packing to do for the trip. Hope everyone has a great day, and especially BUCKEYE.
Dennis
Happy Birthday Buckeye!
I hope you got something cool. Maybe your train station.
Wes
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BUCKEYE !!!
[bday][bday][bday][bday][bday][bday]
Wow…you are almost as old as the Chief !!!
Happy Birthday Buckeye, I hope The Ohio State Marching Band shows up on your door step to serenade you[bday], how cool would that be[:)]
Just as important–Happy National Engineer’s Week, you make our country better!
Jon
Happy birthday Buckeye[bday] Hope you got some nice trains[:)]
John B, It could be worse. Some guys in the Lionel Collectors Club UK priced up using a inverter about 6 years ago. They abandoned the idea because at the time the bits needed cost over £500!
Its only in recent times that the price has droped to around £140 for the whole setup. Still doesn’t make it any easier on the wallet.
You might be able to find a inverter cheaper on Ebay but the Amperor power supply is serious value at £39 (best bang per buck).
If you get stuck or if I can be of help drop me a email.
Nick
[bday] Hope you have a good day Buckeye (from one Yankee to another…)[bday]
Important Weather Report to the Lower 48!
Good Morning from up North. I had a few minutes on a break this morning and I wanted to check in and say hello to everyone around the coffee pot. I have some very good weather news for everyone in the lower 48 who have been shivering for the past couple of weeks. This morning it was -34°F here in Fairbanks! This means that your tempratures will begin to warm up in the next day or so! (When it is cold up here you guys will be back to normal.) We have been enjoying the same weather as everyone else but your cold tempratures are far above normal for us. So it has been unseasonably warm here in the North. Now we are dipping back down to regular old late winter/early spring weather which means you guys down south will be digging some warmer temps very soon. Reading backthroough some of the postings it looks like a lot of folks are becoming acclimatized to cold weather!
Very little time for trains lately to much time at work and handball. I do have a question I would like to ask everyone. Has anyone ever seen a railroad car remodeled with a train layout inside of it and still capable of service on the rails? (A rolling display.) If you have I would be interested to hear about it.
Happy birthday to Buckeye and everyone else celebrating a Feb. birthday.
Best Regards from the Freezer! Kevin T.
Springtime in Alaska means longer daylight and dogteam racing. Next time someone tells you that your hobby is to time consuming tell them to check this website out and compare hobbys. I know firsthand which one takes more time and committment. http://www.yukonquest.org/servlet/viewnewslist
[bday][bday][bday]BUCKEYE, I’ll tilt the mug for you tonite. Wish you many more. Hope you got something with flanged wheels. Don’t forget Birthday S_X?

I haven’t been on the computer much the past 48 hours and you guys give me an extra 4 hours reading to do! [^]
[bday] Buckeye! Hope you get lots of train stuff to fill your room - have you finished the layout yet?
Chief - glad you had a fun trip to Orlando… still waiting for those pics!
Fife - Yes Catoctin Trains was a blast… there were 6 guys in the shop and only 1 lady (my wife). No trains running though… [V] Wife was a trooper though! Are you going to the trainshow in Upper Marlboro this weekend? My friend and I are planning on attending on Saturday…
When is the March gathering in PA?
House Update - We lost the bid on the house we wanted about 20 minutes up the road… we are putting in a bid on a different house tonight. This one is a bit larger than the other one, and has a finished basement with a room that is 18 ft x 13 ft… all I have to do is put a door on it and I’ve got my train room… complete with recessed lighting!!! Not planning any layouts till we get accepted…
Best thing would be no parents come in to see you! [:)]
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUCKEYE!
JOHN, that’s how it always is, no parents the way I like it. Usually would be building something, but instead I’m working on my Lionel Hudson. The side rods are jamming and its either the side rods or the worm gear? I’ll let you know when I get it fixed.

88 - You should’ve asked them to demonstrate DCS for you. They are also a great place for preordering stuff (especially from MTH [;)]). Did you cross the intersection to the arcade store? Lots of pinball machines and jukeboxes inside. Good luck house hunting. Did you see anything on the way up to Thurmont? Won’t be at Upper Marlboro; saving my pennies for YORK!

Fife,
I’ll be up that way in a few weeks so I’ll stop in and request a demo! [:)]
Didn’t get to the arcade store… wife was hungry so we headed South on 15 to the next exit for Pizza Hut… Couldn’t remember the name of the restaurant you told me about.
I hear you on York, I try to go to all the shows just to give the wife some alone time… and me time to look at trains! I’m not buying much, only taking about $20 - $30, if I find some cheap rolling stock (bargain bins) I’ll probably pickup a few flats and gondolas… maybe a boxcar or tanker too…
Trying to get to York, but need that app signed, sealed, and delivered! [;)]
BTW - I rooted for the Orange Car yesterday… Home Despot team… didn’t seem to help much! [;)], you sure you still want to make that offer? LOL!!! I’ve been following Jeff Gordon since my friend in PA got me into NASCAR, he hasn’t won a championship since I started following him! LOL!!!
88 -get that TCA application, I’ll sign it.
