Took my Hudson apart and checked out the worm gear all ok, added some grease. Went to the side rods and checked them out didn’t see anything wrong still was binding. Took off the side rods on both sides engine was turning smoothly. Checked the top slide where metal goes into piston and that was the culprit, it was bent, straighten it out all put back together all works now.
Yep we are up here on business again. At least it was a very nice day for the drive, left Cleveland with temp of 9 deg and when I got here, it was up to 47 deg. This is the wormest I have seen in three weeks.
AKKevinT - the B&O Railroad museum in Baltimore,MD has such a display in one of its refurbished passenger cars. It’s a pretty good HO layout that runs the whole length of the car, and visitors file down one side.
Fife, I have it and it is filled out and ready for signatures. I just need to line up one more and I’m good. Going to check with the fellas at the shop and see if one of them is a member and would be willing to vouche for me! I’ll keep you posted.
BTW - we looked a cape cod on Saturday in Ijamsville. Nice place. Didn’t have a garage, or formal dining room so we had to pass… didn’t see a finished layout so figured it wasn’t yours!
Thanks for the response Fifedog. Is the passenger car able to run down the tracks to various locations or does it stay right at the museum all of the time?
Will check back later tonight, off to handball match after work!
Spent the day hanging out with the kids, then helping give the dog a bath and a haircut - what a mess! You wouldn’t think all that hair came off our little Chewy! She’s pretty tired and taking a nap now. I’m glad I didn’t bid against you on that Home Depot Gondola - I was watching it as well as the Boxcar, but didn’t bid. Looks great! Laz, glad you got your loco working. Tired and tummy upset from too much pizza and cookies and junk - back to work tomorrow though. TTFN
Came back from my meetings tired. Sat down for the usual microwave popcorn. Went to sleep watching a movie. Now to bed.
Fife, you have to be in Maryland or lower PA. Wife and I use to spend a lot of time up and down 81 from Roanoke to the PA area. You are not far from Harrisburg then. You can join us at the March Harrisburg gathering. Now I think March 24 [Saturday] would be fine with me and probably those who have some distance to drive. Does everyone want to do noon at ??? [someone has to name a restaurant]. Got one or two from The Gauge and 3RailMike from OGR wanting to join us.
Sure glad that Monday the 19th is over. Don’t have to say Happy Birthday to Buckeye any more. [;)]
Good Morning from G’burg. Currently 36, to get to almost 50 today with rain. Better break out the sunscreen or an umbrella.
Chief - Hope I can make the 24th. Only snag may be the baptism for my sister’s new baby. They are trying to schedule it around my BIL’s family coming in from Seattle. Probably would not be on a Saturday though. Know it will be a good time. Have met LAZ and John/jefelectric twice before at York. I am not all that familiar with Harrisburg, so I’ll let one of the others choose a place to eat.
Well, I’d better get myself in gear and get going. Kindergarten conferences this AM, not many for me so I should be able to get some other things done this AM. The rest of the staff will be back from dreaded inservice in PM, then all you know what will break loose.
CHIEF, right by BPS in Harrisburg there is a bunch of eaterys there. I don’t get downthere too much so lets let JELECTRIC pick one. How bout it JOHN? Anything is good with me.
Thank you all for the great Birthday wishes!!! [wow] It was a busy day, so I didn’t have time to get on the forum. I especially want to thank the Chief. The new rod and reel he sent me for my birthday is great. (For you newcomers, the Chief’s always sends out great gifts to those on the coffee pot for their birthday.) [:-^]
I’ve been reading the postings about the Lionel Docksider. A Docksider with a steel company logo could be used with ore cars and make a nice consist.
Currently, it is 40 degrees in Buckeyeland. I might pack up and go to the beach. Friday is the day they are going to blast the kidney stone. This is the third or forth time I have had it done and it is not fun.
And a belated birthday greeting to Buckeye! It is warm and cloudy in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s. They say with age comes wisdom. Well, I must not be growing old as I sure am getting dumber. My back was already sore and I decided to chip ice off the sidewalks. After doing that for over an hour and not really accomplishing much except bending a show shovel, I ate supper. There was a message on the voice mail saying there was indoor soccer last night. So do I the sensible thing a nearly 52 year old and stay home? No, I go and practice with the kids, all of whom are at least a third my age. I do hold my own and get a few goals, but my back is really sore today. At least I did not have to drive today. I hope everyone has a good day.
It is a mild 40 degrees and cloudy. Going up to 50 today, with a chance of rain later. Rain?? This weather is crazy.
Buckeye… Glad to hear you had a nice Birthday. I’m still waiting on my gift from Chief too.
Today, I am going to do a couple of things in the house. Little fix-it stuff. Then I plan on spending some time in the train room. Hope to get the final wiring done. Then finish the track. Slowly taking shape. Maybe I’ll be able to post some pictures of trains running by Sunday.
Dining Car just rolled in. " Points east " didn’t have breakfast today?? Well, I am. See ya later.
Buckeye, belated Happy Birthday! Those Zebco rod and reel sets are great, huh?
Speaking of the Chief’s generosity, The boys and I had a great time yesterday adding real coal loads to hoppers he sent us. We used aquarium charcoal (not gravel). It looks so real!
A nice, lazy 3 day weekend. Ahhh. We ran trains a lot! I got an old lighted Lionel caboose to work again. Boy, those old bulbs were much brighter than the new ones!
