Hornby have just released ‘Lord of the Isles’ in 00, comes in a presentation box as a limited edition with matching clerestory coaches. It has not been drastically re-tooled/painted, so don’t expect much of an improvement on the original 1960/1981 model. Price is £120.00 retail and should be available any time.
On the subject of slide rules; I have 5" 10" and 20" Darmstadt including a 10" of my fathers that must be 100 yrs old. I also have a Fowlers Magnum circular with 50" scale, a WW1 15 pounder gun layers rule, numerous linear and circular calculators for everything from hydraulics to machinery.
I am saddened to hear so many of you are suffering from some of life’s outrageous fortunes, at the same time gladdened by the good things that happen to others. I am not religious, but may your gods take care of you.
Jim, I have not seen the CH4 prog on global warming, but from reading/seeing reports it appears that my opinion’s reinforced, that it is a big confidence trick to wield power over people by fear of the unlikely/unbelievable. A way of extracting money from the gullible, at least that is what is happening here with stealth taxes left right and centre.
It is warmer and cloudy with temps reaching into the low 70s today. Yesterday turned out much differently than I thought it would after work (for the better). No one rode with me to work so I went to the State Museum as there was free admission for state employees this week. Then I ate at the downtown Steak’n’Shake and visited Lowe’s and then the daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law. I did not get home until almost 8PM, but it was still daylight thanks to DST. My wife visited her sister in Bloomington and Lucas stayed overnight at a friends on Monday night so all three of us were to the three winds. It is spring break for Lucas and my wife and at least they get to enjoy it. I must be early this morning as only the overseas people were on the pot today. Kevin, glad to hear it is warming up in your neck of the woods as well. I better send the dining car to “Points East” this morning before they get hungry. I hope everyone has a good day.
Today, it is 35 and cloudy. Going up to a warm 63, with partly cloudy skies. This is a good start of Spring.
Off to Cambridge this morning. The nasty grocery shopping day. I have to take back some dog food. Recall. I have heard that in some areas, a few dogs have died from whatever ingredient was put in it. Thank goodness, we have had no problems. Several major brands are affected. Gas prices are still too high. This is getting ridiculous. And no one cares to correct it.
Later, this afternoon, I will need to run trains. To get my nerves back in a calmer mode. Always works for me. Still working on the scenery items.
Dining Car has rolled in. I see " points west " is up and running. So, I will enjoy breakfast.
I picked up my 2055 from Dr. Tinker yesterday and ran it last night. I had it pulling a set of NYC streamliner cars. Looked nice!
But there was a down side to that session. While I was running the train, my 2 boys thought it would be fun to completely disassemble a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle my daughter and I have been working on for the past 3 winters! I could have choked them! Needless to say, they experienced a very early bed time last night!
Congrats Lisa! Wish I could get a dog, but my busy lifestyle doesn’t permit it! [V] I used to have two but had to give them up because I was never home and they needed someone who could spend time with them. Miss them a lot, but I know they are in good hands! Hershey (Bull Terrier/Shar Pei) is with an elderly couple, and Tucker (mutt of unknown origins) is with a family on a large farm with lots of other dogs. I get updates every now and again, they have been coming less and less frequently, and both are quite happy! [^] Maybe when my wife and I have kids and they are a bit older we’ll opt to get one… time will tell.
Pups aren’t mine to name - belong to my son and his family. Shame all of them look like the daddy - mostly black instead of the reddish brown color of the Mom.

Lisa, Didn’t get your email, sent you one. We are a family of dog lovers, always had at least one since we were married up till about two years ago when we put the last on down. Jean decided she didn’t want to go through it again, but has been looking on and off lately. All of our kids have dogs.
The chief must be up and out plowing the lower forty, tried to call a little while ago and got his machine.
It’s 55 and clear outside right now, although it was thick as pea-soup this morning. No trains yesterday, and none on the schedule today either. sigh It’s mid-term time and for some reason my Hebrew prof wants me to learn this stuff [banghead].
Congrats Lisa on the new puppies! My son wants a puppie, I keep telling him that he has a little sister but that’s not working[:D]. Anyways, it’ll be a late day here on campus for me, I doubt I’ll be home before 10 or 11pm tonight. grrrrrr. Oh well, this thing comes in seasons, I guess I just have to weather the storm. One of the biggest problems that I’m having is that all of this is hitting at the same time that my wife just went back to work after almost 3 years at home so needless to say our schedule is a bit frantic right now.
Lisa congrats on being grand mom again lol. They sure look cute. I wish I could have one but don’t think it would be liked to well with the cats I have lol. in fact I have 3 that would probally out weigh it when it got full grown . 1 24LBS 0ne 22LBS and one 19LBS. still have a few others also lol.

Had the same problem in the waiting room as you only the nurse got to witness it too. Last friday had an out-patient procedure to break up the stone, non-invasive with either ultra sound or lazer beam. Was a little groggy afterward but fine friday night with just some minor pain. Going back for more X-rays later this week or next.

Been trying out a new locomotive that I got in the mail yesterday from Historic Rail, may have to go to the Model Railroad side of the forum as the new loco is H.O. I am more into O gauge but do some H.O. at times to keep things interesting.
The temp is around 70 and a little windy, maybe I can do some more irrigation work later in the week or next week in between work and docter appointments.
Lisa, the pups sure are cute! When I was a kid, my uncle raised Beagles. I always enjoyed rabbit hunting with them. My first dog was a Beagle - Pinnochio (we called him Nokie for short).
These days, we are owned by two dachshunds that allow us to share their house and feed them. [:D]
Got an email from my old buddy in SC - he’s headed to the highland games in Mint Hill NC this Friday (around Charlotte) – that’s about 180 miles from Roseyville BTW (looked it up). Sounds like a lot of fun, so hope they have good weather. I wonder if they use grits in the haggis, instead of boiled oats?! [:-^]
