CLOSED////////The Coffee Pot is still on and over 3 years. Here we gather as friends with trains.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where it is cold and snowy [V]

Hard to believe that it was 80 deg on Tuesday and then snow on Wednesday.

Don B - Are you coming to Ohio ? If so, as Keith said, you have to stop by for a visit.

Boy oh boy - 3 days off. Not sure what to do - I know - Run Trains

Easter at the Museum!

Morning all!

Happy Good Friday! Been debating whether to go to work or just stay in where its warm. It’s not supposed to go above freezing today so the latter sounds aweful tempting.

Kieth: Corvairs can be claimed as dependants and as such they also qualify for our government health care. This covers such things as regular oil changes, tune ups and even total engine rebuilds. It doesn’t cover cosmetic operations like repaints, frenching or tuck and roll jobs.

Unfortunately there are many who abuse this system. It’s not uncommon to find tax refunds being spent on other items not related to the care of Corvairs. Auto health care has so many fraudulent claims that the Feds are thinking of doing away with it. The effect would be devastating to LHS’s!

Here’s how last years refund was spent. [;)]

Tom: Ever wonder how those tiny Easter Bunnies pass such gigantic Easter Eggs? And you thought Buckeye had it rough! [;)]

Seems NS does not have a problem being 24/7. [:P]

Bruce : Jim :(jaabat), said we get the same type coverage on our Batmobiles here in the States !! He had a parachute replaced so far & an “oil slick putter downer”, all under our Gov. health care system !! [(-D][(-D] [(-D]

Thanks, John

Good morning from a sunny and cold Crystal Lake where I have the day off - and actually slept past 6 for the first time in 4 years. – don’t know how much train’ing I can get in today - have to run around with the bride on errands. The 4 year old is whining and crying in the seat next to me right now - I’m ignoring him. He’s mastered the technique of annoying his older siblings. The daugher is still asleep after going out on an early morning newspaper delivery run with the boyfriend’s mom. Looks like one of those days…

John:

Let’s hope the Commisioner doesn’t find out! Great Ceasar’s Ghost!!!

Another famous B.W. like Burt Ward and Bruce Wayne

Enjoying some a nice quiet house for a change. Kids are over at friends from a sleepover last night and will stay until an Easter Egg hunt this afternoon. Gotta run to Home Depot for some light switches and check out fixtures for the basement. My friend is putting in a patio in his back yard. I kept telling him to call around and get bulk gravel and screenings/finings but he was checking at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes etc and it was going to be like $150 just for the gravel! He just called and got a local landscape supply place where we can get a yard of gravel for less than $30! I think it will take 2 trips in my Colorado, which is a mid-sized truck. Keep getting outbid on ebay, but one of these days my Lionel pre-orders will start showing up anyway! Still looking at the MTH Ten Wheeler, but have to wait until we see how much the baby sitter will really cost us for the Summer. Went shopping for some Easter goodies for the kids and found some books and cds at a new Christian store in South St. Louis County. I picked up The Apocalypse Code and Vol 2 of the Bible Answer Book (vol 1 was pretty good and has been useful in discussions with my parents and others). All in all, a nice store but we dropped over $100!

Bruce : you have famous initials too !! I read the other day where Bruce Wayne was 86 years old now & Bert was only 75 now !! Wow, our Superheroes been around for a quite a while !!

Is there a RR called N & S out there ? !! [(-D][(-D] Oh wait, I think they’re the guys with these little ones !! [(-D]

Thanks, John ( havin’ too much fun again !! )

Ahhh, Bruce. And Dick, his youthful ward…those were good times and special people…

Yeah, I had the parachutes installed and the oil slick putter downer tuned up. We changed to synthetic oil as it is more slippery. [(-D] Still having trouble with the ejector seats though. The seats eject fine, but the darned roof doesn’t release!! [(-D]

Jim

John: I have seen Addam West recently. No offence to the Dynamic Duo but they do look like they need Geritol and Viagra to get up the 'ole Batpole these days [;)]

Do you have any idea when NS will adopt standard gauge to their 1:1 equipment? It might make the company more profittable and a darn sight more vissible. Maybe passenger complaints will drive them to change their stubborn rebel ways [(-D][;)]

Bruce Webster

Bruce : No I’m not sure but I just hope The Chief sees the light !! He REALLY thinks they’re a real RR !! [(-D][(-D]

Oh, hope no one greases the 'Ole Batpole !!

Thanks, John

Jim: Should have gotten the Batmobile with the Corvair drivetrain. Factory engineering has this version laying down copious amounts of oil and tranny fluid, which only increases in volume the older they get. No ejector is available but it doesn’t take much driving in one of these before you wanna get out anyway! [;)]

Tom & Keith

I don’t think I will be making it to OHIO, from the looks of the map it would be about 350 mi one way. If I could, I certainly would. Planning on seeing York, Strausburg, & Gettysburg.

Trying to get odds & ends finished up. Wife wanted “decorator” switches and receptacles in house after painting. Last night was finishing up that task. Aluminum Wiring UGH! Finished all the receptacles, and a 3 way switch. And still fighting the 3 way, [banghead] then this morning found out that there was not any power on 2 ckts, distributed in other areas of the house. Of course one of the feed lines from a receptacle wire broke in the pigtail junction. So did find the break and reconnected. Still fighting the 3 way, going to have to set down with paper and pencil to see what I am doing wrong.

(Summary of problem: Upstairs hallway lights, switch downstairs when ON, upstairs switch operates fine, when downstairs is OFF, upstairs switch will not turn ON. I think I’m going to do a continuity check tonight to see which wire is common to both switches.)

Fun, Fun, Fun,

Funny you should mention that Dennis !! Later an e-mail came from Kalmback to order their “How to Build Realistic Layouts” for free shipping at 6.95 ! I ordered it cause it shows a lot of industry buidings & other great ideas I think I can use !! Wonder if anyone else is getting it !!

Thanks, John

I won’t be ordering that one, John. Not interested in building a realistic layout. I like my toy train version.

Hello All! Jim A- I have a 1688E from 1937 that I can have Fred restore for you & after it is finished I’ll pack it up & send it your way. This particular version has the thin casting & it will need new Drive Wheels which I’ll get for Fred to mount on & I’ll place an order for them ASAP. The Motor & E-Unit function well & all of the other parts are original on it as well. If interested, just let me know here or on my e-mail. Bruce- Glad to know your Corvair is covered under Canada’s generous goverment plan & that you get tax benefits for it also.[;)] Sounds like the Corvair needs some Geritol for its old age to take care of the Oil leaks & such that it suffers from.[;)][:P][:o)][:o)] Don B- Hope you can make it to Ohio sometime to see us as we live in a Grits free zone & you can see the layout at the museum & the other layouts some of the OTTS Guys have. Buckeye- Hope all is well with you. CSXJohn- That photo you have of the folks riding the small N & S Train is a scaled down layout of their operations in the South![;)][;)][:P][:o)] Take Care all.

Afternoon all!

Don, here is a web site that may be useful for your problem.

http://www.the-home-improvement-web.com/information/how-to/three-way-switch-option3.htm

John - gosh those NS trains always looked so big when Chief sent the photos. I guess it was his carpet layout perspective on things??? How did he edit out the people?

Nice and cool here today. High in the upper 50’s. Colder predicted for Easter. My wife’s sister has moved the Easter picnic from the local park to her house for Sunday afternoon.

Have a great day all!

Thank you very much, Keith. I’ll email you and we can dicuss this more.

Jim

That sounds like a fine machine, Keith. I want to find a 1688 someday. Back from shopping with the bride. At least I got a nice breakfast at my favorite diner out of it. Funny how we can go into the store for just one thing but come out with bags-full. Putting the litte guy down for some quiet time - hope he naps - maybe I can too!
